I was watching a TV report on 60minutes last night about the Palestine/Isreal war thingie and it had an interview with a group of Isreal and Palestine kids and they all met up and played with each other, it was really sweet. Anyways the interviewer went back to see these kids who are now grown up and everything. The Isreal children said they would love to see the Palestine girl again and just talk to her and say they're sorry they don't like what's going on blah blah blah blah. When they interviewed the Palestine girl she had changed so much, she believes all Isrealies are evil, she cheers everytime there's a report they've been killed and she wants to be a suicide bomber herself just so she can defend her country. She's only 15. I felt like I was gonna start bawling.

Awww, damn! This whole stinking' world is going to hell with senseless terrorist acts and wars!

but you've got to think, doing this kind of thing is hard (bare with me). you see, when you run a country, if someone says that a certain amount of land is their (and lets face it, most wars are about land) then the one thing to do to avoid war, is to give them the land. but then you've got them and other countries thinking that your a pushover and that you'll do anything just to avoid confrontation and so you have to be firm sometimes. and so this is where war comes in as there is no proper answer. you either give the land or whatever, and be known as a pushover, or you don't and begin war. and war is always the answer in these situations. it's not the right answer, but it's the answer just the same. it's a crying shame.:(

OK- I don't really think I get the whole Isreal/Palestine thing. I just wanna see if I've got it right, coz I've heard/read so many different stories, but these points seem to keep coming up

*before WW2, Bethlehem and Jeruselem (sp?) were Palestine's land blah blah blah blah.

*During? or after? WW2, America came along kicked Palestine out and said 'right this land is now Isreal's since it was promised to the Jewish people in the bible

*Isreal took over the land that America took off the Palestinians and the Palestinians got really well p.i.s.s.e.d off

*Lots of fighting going on since then with peace every now and again but it doesn't last long.

From Encyclopedia.com:

The state of Israel is the culmination of nearly a century of activity in Zionism. Following World War I (1922), Great Britain received Palestine as a mandate from the League of Nations. The struggle by Jews for a Jewish state in Palestine had begun in the late 19th century and had become quite active by the 1930s and 40s. The militant opposition of the Arabs to such a state and the inability of the British to solve the problem eventually led to the establishment of the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine (1947), which devised a plan to divide Palestine into a Jewish state, an Arab state, and a small internationally administered zone including Jerusalem. The General Assembly adopted the recommendations on Nov. 29, 1947. The Jews accepted the plan; the Arabs rejected it. As the British began to withdraw early in 1948, Arabs and Jews prepared for war. On May 14, 1948, when the British high commissioner for Palestine departed, the state of Israel was proclaimed at Tel Aviv. Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq invaded Israel, as most Palestine Arabs fled from Jewish territory. By the time armistice agreements were reached (Jan., 1949), Israel had increased its holding by about one-half. Jordan annexed the Arab-held area adjoining its territory, and Egypt occupied a coastal strip in the southwest, including Gaza.
