Latest Dark Jedi cheap trick :)

Has anyone noticed Dark Jedi who will sit away from a large group of people fighting, wait until they've fought a while until their HP is low, then just nail the group with Level 3 lightening? It nets them a whole bunch of kills, and really frustrates those of us who have to work for our kills. I personally don't care if people use underhandedness to get kills... virtue is its own reward... but this one is just annoying. :)

Well, this is STAR WARS, my friend...

I don't use force at all.. Or atleast I try not to.. I only use grip and thats to counterattack a n00b, or on throw maps..

And I only use drain as a counter..

I must be the only person on this game who doesn't even use Lightning.. In my opinion, it's for people who can't use any other weapon because they suck so bad... =)

i don't really use lightning much either, sometimes just for fun but i usually play Saber only FFA, and the server i go to (jedi drikans dueling server) we just mainly duel and there is the option of force but nobody really ever uses it and jedi drikan kicks everybody who's being cheap or attacking people with their sabers off (that or we call a vote and the person almost always gets kicked):p

I never use lightning. I use drain, but thats to counter act those damn Paladins (heavy stance+ heal). I also have been known though to drain for health at time ;)

I NEVER use lit, its pointless. Unless your gonna be cheap its much more fun to just saber the ****ers to death.

Grip I always keep on... but I never use...

Push and pull now :D

It gets even better on duel servers, cus there's nowhere to run or hide. People are loading up on drain and lightning and playing the "let's keep them from having any force the entire round" game. This, combined with hammering away with lightning and avoiding your saber attacks, and well. :) You get the idea. Absorb works great for the time it's active, while they play the run away game, but once it runs out, kiss all your force goodbye. It's pretty pathetic.

Yeah, PowerPack, you know who I'm talkin about.

I use lightning a lot on 1-1.

First you chocke them, then some lightning and there healts so low you just have to touch them with the saber :D

Heh, Absorb is gradually becoming my best friend, right behind the Mind Trick.

The best way to deal with the people who run when they see you absorb is to just turn it off. They sometimes try to rush back in with another force attack so its always good to keep your finger over the Absorb key.Conserving your absorb energy works wonders. Its sometimes hard to predict when to turn it back on, so its a good idea to turn it on and off for alternating intervals.

I'm currently favoring the Absorb/Heal/Mind Trick setup. It can deal with pretty much anything your opponent tries.

Peace,

Bronze

It's almost impossible to time it perfectly, cus if you're even a second too late your entire force pool is gone and you'll never be able to turn it on or use any other force again(especially on tiny maps like the carbon map).

I got so sick of the "cheap" kills (ie - getting lighting bolted by a third person while duelling, getting gripped and dropped off a ledge, etc) - now I only join servers that specify "NO FORCE".

Try it - it all but eliminates the "cheap" kills (except getting sniped) ... or better yet - SABER ONLY NO FORCE.

Fun fun fun ;)

I am new and haven't mastered the force powers yet, and hate it when people use them on me and feel it's unfair, BUT, they were put in for people to use so if they are avalible and no one feels they should be used what's the point, dame there are a lot of forces to get used to keying while your in the heat of battle.

And as for waiting til others fight til their health gets low and then someone finishes them off, you find that in all games, I hate it to but nothing you can do about it. You get a person down to say 10% health and a person finishes them and then you. Get used to it, it's reality.

Tom, the thing is, if they're smart they'll pull back and start nailing you with grip and lightning, alternating with drain to prevent you from getting enough force up to manage even a push. It's NOT difficult to avoid the other guy long enough to get the full 3-4 lightnings(if that many) off that will kill him outright without having to even swing your saber.

I think most "cheap tricks" provide an interesting challenge... that's not to say, however, that I like all of them.

Lightningers don't annoy me much. I've only died once or twice to lightning - most of my force-related deaths are usually by Grip, either being choked to death or simply thrown into a void. When I see somebody who I know to be a lightning user (or somebody starts zapping me), my usual response is to turn and run - if I'm dueling somebody with sabers, usually they'll follow (though even so, most of them scream obscenities and insults about my cowardice... and I stab them while they're typing*), or if not, they'll be killed by the lightning guy.

No, what annoys me are those Drain users. They not only drain my force power, they drain my framerate as well (usually drops to around 5fps). And not to mention that it really doesn't reflect kindly upon their intelligence - I don't use the force. Rarely will you see me use it except when I'm being Drained and want to make use of my mana before it's gone (perhaps it's a vicious cycle - they Drain me because I assault them with force, I assault them because they Drain me). Otherwise, I sometimes use a level 3 Force Jump or a Saber Throw, but nothing worth Draining me for. I think most Drainers are just so afraid of an actual challenge that they Drain you regardless of whether or not you actually pose one, but that's merely my own theory. But back to what I was saying - what really annoys me is that they Drain me, my framerate dies and they've killed me before I actually see the next frame.

Another thing that bugs me are the Force Push users (a Neutral Jedi 'cheap trick', I suppose). Not the ones who use it casually, but the Hardcore Force Pushers. The ones who do nothing BUT Push you, knock you down and sweep in for the kill. There's a good defense to this - just Push back. But I want a fight, not a shoving contest. These people seem to me like they can't use the saber effectively, so they have to resort to other methods to make the opposition submit.

With all that said, I'm usually on a No Force server. I don't like using the force, and I have a greater respect for someone who can kill me with the saber in two seconds flat than someone who Forces me to death. Too many people seem to be 'Force dependant'...

*This doesn't mean that I'm one of those folks who specifically hunts down "chatters" and kills them, though.. for the most part, I respect people who don't seem to be responding to the gaming environment and ignore them. However, players that I see do nothing but whine about how other players have decided to play the game or complain about trivial things, really should expect to be killed.

Lightningers don't annoy me much. Me either. It's just health damage, which you can heal via the force or packs.

No, what annoys me are those Drain users. They not only drain my force power, they drain my framerate as well (usually drops to around 5fps).

This is one of my biggest beefs about it too, especially those people who continue to spam it despite you mentioning(and probably because you did mention) that it's killing your machine.

Reminds me of playing on a duel server the other day, on the carbon map... I came up against this guy who seemed absolutely in love with just kicking people to death and had practiced it quite a bit. Rarely used his saber unless he was able to knock you down. First time I fought him it was REAL annoying but I stayed patient and every time he'd kick I'd heal the 20 pts of damage it'd inflict instantly. I ended up winning the duel by waiting for him to come flying at me, pushing him down, slash slash slash. One of my better, more intelligent fights overall. He was obviously pissed at me healing regularly, because...

...next round he comes up armed to the hilt with drain and lightning maxed. We came together and instantly I was drained of all force power. We then spent probably close to a minute with me running all over the map trying desperately to get even a notch of force power back with him constantly draining to prevent that, alternating with lightning to continually tick down my health. I ended up trying to exit the server in disgust and before I could got lightninged or stabbed inthe back to death or something. To say I was pretty disgusted was an understatement and although I continued to play on that server, I refused to duel the guy anymore and would just leave whenever he came back up against me.

In hindsight, though, rather than retreating, I should have kicked off absorb right off the bat and then been aggressive as hell trying to take him out before my force ran out(which would end up being for good, since once absorb went down I'm sure he'd have started up the constant drain). Lesson learned: If you're playing the light side and have absorb, kick it off as SOON as the battle starts. If you're dark, get your drain ready and hope like hell you get yours off first. *sigh*

I'm kinda torn about this one. I don't like how some people are fixated on pushing, but there ARE ways to avoid being pushed. And even when you are, you can STILL avoid getting sabered if you can get your ass up quickly enough.

With all that said, I'm usually on a No Force server. I don't like using the force, and I have a greater respect for someone who can kill me with the saber in two seconds flat than someone who Forces me to death. Too many people seem to be 'Force dependant'...

I like it. It definitely adds to the fun, but I'm the kind of player who likes to integrate all of that(saber and force) and be creative, whereas I think most people are not.

I discovered a new use for drain today. on narshada ctf, someone was trying to jump from one side to the other, I hit them with the drain in midair(i was on the side he was jumping to)and the guy fell 2 feet short of the platform! down the pit to his death... :D :D :D he ran out of jump mana...... i just about lmao.... be very hard to repeat though.

The whole game has gone bad now because of that stupid attack. I think Lucas needs to fix that or something

just move out of the way, it's easy to see it coming at you that all you gotta do is walk away from where it will hit..........i've had people try for a whole duel to try and hit me with that and i just kill them on medium attack stance and heavy by backing up and then coming back in after they're going for another hit....if they're to stupid to change attack stances that's their problem, not mine

Problem with that Twins is that while the heavy stance users blade is buried in the ground, he can still rotate around and the one-hit kill action is still considered "active".

I've been killed more times than I can count by waiting for the heavy stance user to do his demented bunny hop, roll around to his back for the hit, only to be instantly killed because he rotates around while he supposedly in his "open" period.

Yes, the one-hit-kill demented bunny hop is quickly killing the enjoyment of this game.

God doesnt anyone have something better to do than to wine on these forums. Everything is cheap i guess. Sounds like u ppl should be dueling on a no force server. I personally love lightning.. And all the other force moves.. I used to think they were "cheap" also.. but everything can be countered. And all the force tricks ... arent near as "cheap" as the heavy stance.. It seems everyone just likes to run around flailing their saber in heavy stance.. in hopes that they might nail someone ... These features are part of the game.. get used to it .. play on servers with rules u like.. but plz .. quit your freakin complaining...
