Vorlagen
Wow, I just had a long post, but I crashed. Drat. to make a long story short: I am on a Netgear 4 port router, and I configured all the required port forwarding. I set up my server.cfg as you all here have showed me. I put up the server, connecting to port 28071 ( I think, at least that's what the netport and heartbeat to raven's server is ). I cannot find this server anywhere, be it in game browser or on ASE. However, while looking at the console, people have come in, dueled, chatted, and left, meaning the server must exist somehwere. My LAN IP is 192.168.0.2, and my external IP is 12.233.144.35. How/What do I do to find this server? Thanks in advance for all the help.
MatrixCPA
If other people are finding it, you might have set a filter that you didn't intend to set....thus preventing you from seeing it while others do. There wouldn't be any other logical explanation for you not to see it and still have people connect....given you are checking with the in-game browser, ASE and Gamespy. Mertado
Bad news. It's the router. I have one also (Netgear RT314), and while it is very good for most of what it does, it likes to screw up game servers. It tended to mask my servers from computers on my own network, plus it has a bad habit of randomly dropping Internet players for no apparent reason (tested with UT, Q3, and Q2 engine games). You can still specify the IP address manually from in-game and it will connect and work. There is a BIOS update for the RT314, but I'd already moved on to a Netopia router before I could extensively test it.
Vorlagen
It won't connect or find them if I specify them in-game, that's just the problem. I can connect to it through the local screen. And no, I have no filters on, especially in ASE, none of the filters would matter if I just went to "add server" I can't even connect if I type in my IP. Anyone know? Vorlagen
I'm not sure if I should make this into a new topic because I know tons of other people on these boards are having the same problem, BUT: If it is in fact my router, the Netgear, RP114 that is causing the problem, then what are some HOSTING SAFE ROUTERS that I could get my hands on? I'm looking for a 4 port(ish) router that will allow me to successfully forward ports and host game servers. What is everyone here using? Additionaly, is anyone successfully using the RP114 to host game servers? Thank you.
Vorlagen
Come on, someone must have a recommendation for a good router I can use to host games!!
MightyPez
I'm using a Dlink DI-704P and I can't see my game either. However......I CAN see it in the lan filter, just not over gamespy or the internet. Other than that it works fine.
Vorlagen
What about other people? Is anyone using a Netgear and getting results? How about Linksys?
