noaxark
I ran a benchmark using these commands: devmap ffa_bespin timedemo 1 disconnect demo jk2ffa These settings: 1024x768x32 High quality, no anti-aliasing. My Machine: WinXP pro Athlon XP2100+ Creative GF4 Ti4600 (28.32 drivers) 512MB ram MSI KT3 Ultra Aru Soundblaster Live 5.1 player Got 80.4 fps... is something wrong with my computer? If ya look at the benchmarks at these sites, you can see that similar machines get 100~120 fps =( http://firingsquad.gamers.com/hardware/jk2/default.asp http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.html?i=1608&p=9 http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphi...acharts-04.html I've heard people with GF4 Ti4600 say that they never get slowdowns. Well, I do (if slowdowns means FPS slow enough to notice it), so I'm suspecting that something is wrong here...
H-street
Make sure you have the maxfps set higher than 80.. that looks like what is happening.. you should set it to something like 200.. then run it again.
noaxark
the maxfps was set to 85, but I got 79.4 fps after I changed it... I've checked my driver settings and I'm pretty sure vertical sync isn't on... crap... HELP!
CaptainRAVE
Everyone seems to be having people.......noone actually knows how to solve the problem..anyway......anymore frames than you have there arent noticable by the human eye anyway.
noaxark
No, because that's just an average. The fps can go up to 100+ frames, but also down to below 60, which the human eye can notice. That's why it's important to have a high average, as the frames don't go down as low...
Chiles4
From what I remember, aren't most "professional" benchmarks done with sound disabled? I just remember from the Q2 days, that you were always supposed to disable sound before benchmarking so that you could get a "true" videocard benchmark. You might want to see if that's what they're doing at those sites.
noaxark
I dunno... but would it really make such a huge difference? Where do I turn it off anyway?
