sunrider4240
If you could add things to JK II, what would it be? For me, it would be more skins, lightsaber skins, a LARGE lightsaber color selection screen, and a BETTER story line and live action shots like the first JK. panacea
1) Two-bladed saber that actually worked. 2) Realistic saber combat and dismemberment that didn't cause too much lag / stuttering in multiplayer 3) More balanced stances. i.e. light stance less impotent, heavy stance less dominant. 4) More saber moves. 5) Nix the strafejumping. 6) More flips and acrobatics for all stances. Maybe a Darth Maul model / skin that had acess to all the acrobatics but could only be unlocked after you finished the SP game and had 3/4ths of the health of a regular character. 7) More stances. How 'bout an overhead stance that holds the saber vertically downwards in front of your face, and a one-handed stance in which all your moves with the saber are 2-3x faster than the light stance, but do 2-3x less damage and allows a saber throw to happen 2-3x faster and go 2-3x farther. Maybe a replacement for the current "light" stance. 8) New leves with a scattering of "detachable" environmental pieces that could be Force Pulled into your opponent, Darth Vader style. I don't care about the story, the lightsaber color, the variety of skins, or anything but saber combat, really.
TrUeFoRcE
1. lightstaff 2. dual light sabers 3. force destruction 4. conc riffle 5. rail gun 6. force speed and jump as they were in jk1 7. instead of force saber throw a kick move, and force saber throw is a bindable force power 8. alot more models, like darth maul, anakin skywalker (ep2) etc... 9. better maps.... thats about it, i cant think of anythign else right now.... Emon
1. NO double sided lightsaber. Why? It ruins the fun when everyone has it... It's like a special, magical sword in an RPG. When you get it, you feel really special that only YOU have it. If everyone else has one, it ruins all the fun. Also because it's near impossible to properly balance the lightstaff and lightsaber in any game, the lightstaff is a superior weapon in SW under almost all circumstances. 2. I'd add a few more flashy saber moves to be pulled off, cartwheels and the butterfly move as well. 3. Most of all I was really hoping for more NPC interaction. I remember in the E3 video the demo guy said you'd be able to interact with NPCs and help each other out, like in an RPG. There were a total of SIX different kinds of NPCs that were your allies. Firstly, you had Jan. Then you had that Chiss guy, he wasn't even your ally, but not your enemy. Then you had Lando, Luke and the two different kinds of Jedi dudes. Not much. I was really hoping to run around Nar Shaddaa talking to people, finding leads, actually feel like I was tracking down Reelo, etc.
Emon
Also, I forgot to post this... 1. Azraelt, how could you want BETTER models?? The models in JO are some of the best in any game right now. Better and more detailed than RtCW, and on par with MoH:AA, if not better. I know many people thought the stormtroopers didn't look like the ones from the movies... Well, you need to take a closer look at both. Raven used images of the stormtroopers from the movies and actually built the models right over the images, so they were an exact replica. 2. Other things I wanted to have: Plot could be slightly improved. The plot in JO was good, but it could have used some tweaking, and should have had some plot twists. I also think that Desann was a really crappy villan. He didn't seem very evil... I mean, take Jerec from JK1; He's one of the coolest SW villans there is! Especially that actor for him, he was pretty good (especially at that evil laugh!).
TrUeFoRcE
also some more boss fights would be nice....there was only tavion, galak mech and desann, everything else was those useless jumping test and search for the key sorta stuff....i would rahter have it straigth forward with alot of nice boss fights, and like emon said, what ever yahppened to the idea of npc interatcion? i thought that was suposed to be a big part of the game.... Schizophrenic
1. A Mara Jade multiplayer model. She doesn't need to be in the SP story any, just a MP model. High-quality too, with her wearing that black jumpsuit she wears in the Heir to the Empire comics, not the way she was dressed in MotS. *continued ravings of a zealous Mara Jade fan* 2. PING COMPENSATION. Half-Life has it in its netcode, why don't Q3-based games? If I hit the fire button, my gun should not fire a quarter-second later, it should fire instantly. If the blaster bolt I just fired hits somebody on my end, it should count as a hit no matter what my ping is. If I swing my saber and it goes through somebody on my end, it should count as a hit on the server. Right now I have to predict where the person I'm fighting is going to be in 200-300 milliseconds, and in that 200-300ms timespan they might change direction. If this were 1996 and online gaming was still in its infancy, by all means this would be ok, but it's 2002 and PC has successfully been done before. Not having it is just being lazy. 3. RGB saber colors. I honestly don't see how this would be hard in any way to code. I could probably code something like it myself in 30 minutes. 4. SP saber combat in MP. MP is just dull. Most of the time it's random swings until you somehow connect. In SP, there's always tactics involved. 5. No heal, no drain. You heard me. That's basically it. I'd only want lightstaves in the game if they were only for show and didn't have any advantages over normal sabers.
banks
1. add a bit to the saber combat (acrobatics, moves, you name it) 2. give more guns in the beginning. After you get the saber, how's gonna use them anymore? 3. Co-op. I REALLY was disappointed when i heard that there was not going to be co-op included. But, its a good thing we have the modding community
Lord_FinnSon
1. Like few of you already mentioned, interaction with NPC's should have been done more properly. In this current state it's kinda limited, because of lack of civilian NPC's in locations like Nar Shaddaa and Cloud City. That's why I made a thread discussing about this part of SP. 2. Tweak Desann a little bit to spice up last duel againts him. 3. Different saber handles to choose from in MP. I think six individual designs(one of them a standard "Kyle" handle of course)would compliment nicely different blade colors you can already choose from. I'm sorry, but I really really have to disagree with the whole client side prediction stuff. I've played counter-strike a lot with its whole client side prediction crap, and getting hit after you've moved round a corner by a person with dial up and 200 ping is ass, and you can't tell if they cheat, or if its just the stupid client prediction doing it. I'd really hate it to be playing on a local, low pinging server (40-50ms), and even though I've actually dodged a dial up or overseas persons shots and swings on my screen, still getting nailed by it due to client prediction. It's such a stupid idea. Why don't quake3 based games have it? Maybe because there is no point tweaking a netcode which works, and works fine. To change it just to please some people on dialup or who play on overseas servers is rediculous. Maybe because iD know that client side prediction is ass. Yes, its 2002. Yes, client side prediction has been done before. But dialup is so 1995. Anyway, my suggestions of what I would add to the game: 1) Ability to have more than 1 private duel going at once, because I don't think the private duel setting specifies how many duels you can have, just 1 or 0 for yes and no. 2) I'd tweak some of the force powers, most notably drain and heal. 3) Some more duelling arenas, and some more maps (this will all be taken care of when the gdk gets released) 4) Some different crosshairs 5) Some maps like in Rocket Arena 3, with different duelling arenas etc on the one map, which you get to by changing the arena you're in. How long before someone makes a mod to do this?
Emon
Oh yes, I forgot these as well: 1. Port the full SP saber combat system to MP (that stuff about intense lag is crap). 2. Remove Drain and replace it with Destruction, like from JK but not nearly as powerful. I have no problem with Heal, it shouldn't be tweaked. I mean if Dark Jedi can run around gripping you into pits and electricuting you, you should be allowed to at least heal yourself.

There are far more dialup users in the world than there are broadband. The technology isn't obsolete yet. If it was, there wouldn't be any dialup anymore, anywhere. Hell, in my own town, the cable company recently upgraded their cable lines, yet said that they weren't going to do cable modem access and that there weren't any plans to do it for at least 5 years. Game companies have to appeal to the lowest common denominator when it comes to online play: 56k modem users. They can't make a game that will only play smoothly for broadband users without alienating the vast majority of their possible customers. The game has to run smoothly for all involved, no matter what their connection. How would you feel if you actually landed a solid hit on somebody, one that would absolutely kill them if the game were on a lan, yet you aren't awarded the kill because the server says that person isn't actually at that spot? We have to deal with that all the time, and it makes the game very frustrating. </offtopic> CARRY ON WITH THE WISHLISTS.
San'en
If i have to choose just one thing it'll be freesaber movement. You could bind it to 2nd mouse button. u press it down and move the mouse and Kyle swings. But it have to be working nicely, not like in Die by the sword!! We have to deal with that all the time, and it makes the game very frustrating. I play on overseas servers (non Australian) ones all the time. So I'm generally averaging 200-250 ping. So I do kind of put myself in the 56k'ers shoes in doing so Sure, I've had a few definite hits on my screen that'd kill them if it were lan, that have done nothing. I just accept the fact that it's my ping doing it. I don't feel bad, or anything, I just enjoy myself in the game and do the best I can given the current situation (and hopefully I make some kills ). True, you have to deal with that all the time. I have to deal with dial up players lagging around, and swinging at someone on dialup who was in front of me, to have them end up behind me magically, and killing me. I've noticed that the game does favour high pings sometimes, as some times I've been able to go to a US server, and pretty much slaw the game *shrug*. If you get good with your prediction on a high ping, you'll do reasonably well after a while.
Pizlenut
im not a dialup user, but I know what its like. In their defense its just as hard and even more irritating for them than it is for you. You think its bad being hit behind a wall by the few dialups in a game? Guess what It happens to them a *lot* more often than it would to you. Besides just because you got behind a wall before the game figured out you were dead, doesnt mean they STILL didnt hit you when you were out in the open. lol but anyway, I dont like lag compensation. So pfft Its too unreliable. As for adding things to the game; I absolutely hate puzzles... I dont play first person shooters to jump around and push blocks, add more blasting and less jumping damnit. for MP; better taunts! lol (honestly though, some of them are very out of place and extremely lame)

Kataarn
A new map type, which would have a Saberstaff. It would be like Jedi Master, except the top person would have a saber staff, and all force powers maxed (for the side they're using), everyone else would have a saber, and force powers by the base allocation by the server. That would give you the special feeling No damaging light side power, they don't exist. Throw and Destruction would be cool, I agree. Patch the map-change/new skin crash. Add different saber handles. Add the ability to design your own handles, complete with switch, length & width adjustments. That'd be cool. I agree that throw should be bindable. ShadowCell
Oh, I would change lotsa things. 1. More maps, and longer maps as well! I beat the game in three hours without cheats! (so what if I knew what I was doing this time around?) 2. More realism in the maps: the pilots and droids were a good touch, but I thought people lived on Bespin and Nar Shaddaa. 3. More boss fights. The Seven Dark Jedi of JK1 were great, but in JK2 it was only Tavion and Desann, who was like Barney with a lightsaber and the powers of the Dark Side. Sure, his voice was cool, but that didn't last long. 4. More most-excellent voices, like Mech Galak's voice. I swear, that voice is sweet. 5. More guns before you get the saber. After you get the saber, what's the point of getting the Tenloss, the Bowcaster, and all those other guns? 6. Get rid of the guns that are pretty much useless; as in, weapons that don't serve much purpose. For example, what's the point of det packs? Why blow something up when you can just as easily hack it open? 7. Different saber handles. It gets kinda old seeing only good 'ol Desann with a saber handle that looks different. Hey, I wonder if there's a MOD out there for using Desann's saber handle instead of Kyle's plain boring one? 8. Full interaction with NPCs. For example, on Nar Shaddaa, instead of hacking Reelo's goons to death, maybe you could hack Reelo's goons to death and talk to civilians and droids for clues as to where Reelo is. It would make you feel like you're actually looking for Reelo, and make it all the sweeter to find him. 9. More Reborn. I love fighting those wacky hooded Reborn. You'd think if Desann was there for that long, he'd manage to pop more of his cronies into the Valley to make them Reborn. Or maybe the Valley of the Jedi is like my computer: it takes hours to figure out before you can use it. 10. More MP maps/models. Of course, since it's been out for about a month or two, I've got all the skins/models I'll ever need (thanks go out to everyone who's smarter than me and made them). Still, when it first came out I wished there were a few more models. 11. Perhaps they could make a patch in which you can fight the Dark Troopers from Dark Forces. That would be fun: I can see it now: Kyle enters a room and a Phase 2 Dark Trooper jets at him. I think it would be fun to fight a Dark Trooper, trying to hack it to pieces while it flies circles around you. 12. A built-in editing kit, such as tools for building your own lightsaber, tools for making a model for yourself, and maybe even taking MP maps and making your own missions. 13. A fix for that huge imbalance in the force, such as getting rid of Drain and Absorb, and maybe MP Grip to get rid of the pests that just Grip and run away. Or, in MP, Grip could consume huge amounts of Force power so it's a finisher only to be used if the player has enough time and Force power to pull it off. Grip abusers and Drain abusers are the reason I don't play MP anymore: they took all the fun out of it. 14. A reminder for all those psychos who think this game is their life: no matter how cool this game is, it is only a game. Wow, I'm picky...

Dark Cloak
Neato movie-like acrobatics, yes. HOWEVER, I'm happy with the butterfly and that other move in CoolMoves...not the cartwheel, the other one. The one you do when you strafe left, opposite of butterfly. HOWEVER, the ONE thing that I would INSIST changes...character weight. The acrobatics are WAY too smooth to look realistic. I think that the centers of gravity on the characters need to be changed, so that the limbs are more ragdoll when the go limp...like real people, you know? It'd help IMMENSLY with realism in acrobatics. Oh...and I want a lightstaff (doublebladed saber), dangit!
