matt-- Posted April 21, 2002 Posted April 21, 2002 I just found this great little guy on /. Some guy made a version of Kazaa without ads or spyware! It's called KazaaLite. I just uninstalled Kazaa and just finished scanning for spyware. I'm about to install! I'll post what I think soon. http://www.kazaalite.com
SPY_jmr1 Posted April 21, 2002 Posted April 21, 2002 interresting.... uses the same files as reg. kazza, or just other kazzalite's?
matt-- Posted April 21, 2002 Author Posted April 21, 2002 It gets the thumps up from me No ads! No popups! I'm about to run another spyware scan, just to be sure.
matt-- Posted April 21, 2002 Author Posted April 21, 2002 Well, you connect to the Kazaa network, so you find the same files on the search. All you have to do is copy over your 'My Shared Folder.' To the Kazaalite directory.
SPY_jmr1 Posted April 21, 2002 Posted April 21, 2002 hey matt? what program do you use for anti-spyware? if you dont mind me asking. prob need to do this on my comp(s)
matt-- Posted April 21, 2002 Author Posted April 21, 2002 Cydoor is still installed, but the rest of the spyware is gone. ad-aware...it's on download.com

matt-- Posted April 21, 2002 Author Posted April 21, 2002 I really should read the install messages. That Cydoor dll detected is actually just a dummy file. It's totally harmless...you just can't delete it.
SPY_jmr1 Posted April 21, 2002 Posted April 21, 2002 ya you should.... even i noticed that:D running adaware now, says it found 2 files... one will be the harmless one, now i wanna know what the 2nd one is.... grrr....
Redwing Posted April 22, 2002 Posted April 22, 2002 This isn't anything new. Look here. This is the exact same thing, except you have to do it to Kazaa yourself, manually. The only difference here is that it's packaged. Guess that is better
