To Everyone - This Game Is Not A Movie & Vice Versa!

First of all this game is not a movie and the movie is not this game. The only thing they share in common is the Star Wars universe. Granted, they are both regarded as a form of entertainment but just a different kind. Don't go comparing that the game should be like the movie and such because they're totally different formats. It boils down to GAMEplay.

True, there has to be a point where "movieism" is sacrificed in order to make the game a challenge. How fun would it be to press one button and watch the Jedi go into battle mode and take out an entire room without getting a scratch? (sure, it would be fun to watch but there'd be no participation)

I've downloaded the patch but I'm not sure whether I want to install it, yet. Kinda getting used to the way it was packaged...

Also think of all the down time between the action. When people are talking. That would absolutely suck in a game. Having to watch a half hour cutscene of Galactic senate dialogue.

Granted that Gameplay shouldn't take a backseat to eyecandy. But this is a StarWars game, so the fans of StarWars expect the games to feel like the movies.

It's a very fine line to walk, and the reason why I think that many StarWars/Startrek games do so poorly. On the one hand, if the game doesn't capture the spirit of the movie then the fans will be unhappy and won't buy it. On the other hand, if the game play stinks (the ep1 game for example) then the game fans won't buy it.

But the developers do owe something to the movie fans, a game like JK2 has to have some of the feel of the movie, or it might as well be called star samuri, and use laser katana's. I don't think gameplay should be scarificed, but keeping true to the movies is as imporant as gameplay. Idealy you can do both.
