Need more sp maps!!

Hey people, we need more sp maps like the sp_base one that is posted in the map download section. Its not too fancy but its a fun little action romp (especially with g_saberrealisticcombat on) and decent considering its the first real custom one iv seen so far. People that can should start making big cool looking maps that have lots of neat places to go with lots of possibilities for interesting combat and that represent places in the starwars universe. If possible recreate small portions of places like coruscant, tatooine and bespin but model them accurately, like actual cities so there may be npc civilians and bystanders and such. These kind of broad open ended maps would be good for both sp and mp and could even be used for many different scenarios and as rping servers.

I'm new to mapmaking but there is a Naboo map on it's way.

I've allready asked some moddellers to make me a Droideka/Destroyer model and an Attack Droid for extra fun.

 

If you wish, I could send you a preview of my map, that counts for everybody here.

Though it looks cool and has a lot of stuff that you don't see in the real SP like being able to walk in almost each home to find a suitable sniperlocation for example but I have a few problems which I will tell you about in my new thread.

yeah its too bad that all these great mp mods cant be implemented very easily. I love all the stuff im seeing but i never download any of it cause i cant really use it. (i have no friends with computers, crazy huh?)Thats why i want to see levels that are big in scope and could be used for sp and mp. i know scripting is the biggest hurdle right now for sp levels but just think how cool it would be to walk around an accurately modeled representation of Mos Eisley, complete with bystanders and traffic. That way even in sp or mp there would be interesting tactical possibilities. There especially needs to be some elaborate mp scripting to make some truly dynamic levels, where its not just a swarm of people mashing buttons trying to land a one-hit kill with the saber. Im not sure how flexible the scripting is or how far you can go with any of these aspects (im too busy with flash and maya to even touch radiant) but i would like to see something a little more open as far as level design, then what they already offer in the sp or mp.

One of the strengths of the Dark Forces/jedi Knight community has always been the plethora of solid single player maps. I don't see any reason why this would change for Jedi Outcast, it just takes a little time to get going.

I am building an SP map, not too big though, that I hope people will enjoy.

 

Its taking some time because I it is my first map on the Quake engine.

 

If you would like a taste of what is to come then PM me..

just ask for the map, so far.................

 

I will be developing it for some time yet but it aint bad IMO.

a tatooine pod speedway map is in the works, it will differ in some points from the original seen in the movie, but imho will result in some more fun

 

we are a team of 3-4 jedi knights located in berlin and with the strong planning we're doing it will take some weeks to complete the map including a lot of scripting

 

 

so i guess for the really good maps it will take some weeks but now with starwars aotc people are in the mood to wait ;)

well i've recently begun work on a single player map, it'll probably be called "Rebel Defense" or something to that effect. Basically your job is to defend a rebel base that is being attacked. It's really just barely begun but I do have a bit of the storyline worked out.

 

I expect work on this to be slow going, i've actually never finished a map yet, started a few, just haven't finished any. But i'm determined on this one, i'm pretty confident I have the knowledge now to make something decent.

 

Maybe when I get 50 percent or more completed i'll post a WIP thread much like Cmdr Antilles (I like that idea, it's a good way to get input while you're working on it and generate excitement about it at the same time).

 

Dont' expect to hear anything else on this for a while though, i'm doing this solo.

My adventure is going to be a bit bigger, due to its story line.

Kyle is sent to an Imperial Outpost on some Swampy rainy planet that was thought to be free of Imperial entaglements.

My map is going to start off in the marshes and slowly progress underground where Kyle finds more than he baragins for. But, Isn't that the case all the time!!! lol

I have the first scene written and drawn out , and plan on doing this before i make my set of maps. Its going to be broken up to speed up gameplay....i'm not sure how big a map i can make without it causing problems.

I also plan to have lots neat Star Wars universe archetecture too like giant pits in the middle of a base with a thin walkway to some button and whatnot...lol...fun stull like this.

Kyle is going to start out with a Saber, pistol and rank 2 jump, rank 1 push, mind trick and pull. Thats all the force that will be with me. lol

It sounds a bit larger in scope than what i plan on doing, but, i jsut type longwinded.

I am leanring more about the editor every day and should get started with this this weekend.

im doin an sp map that is the first of three that i have planned involving Tavion on a quest to find out what happened to her younger sister who was taken into protective custody by new republic military and then kidanapped

 

she starts off fully dark by the end of the three maps she should be pretty much on the way to being a lightside jedi (with a little guidance from a certain jedi master)

 

heres some screenshots

 

the first map should be finished in about a week

just adding my 2 cents, I too look forward to everyones SP maps, I like these the most and hopefully we'll have as many SP maps as operation flashpoint. Maybe even some campaigns. It would be cool to play as obi wan, anakin, vader, jango, luke... even a stormtrooper commander leading a stormie boarding party onto a rebel ship etc.

Could even make custom .roq files for intros. In any case, SP levels rock.

My name is yom. well not really i just like that name. but anywho i am getting tierd of looking for some good sp maps. the one i have play are pritty good like yours Saa-Tom Tah. the base was a shory but it had a lot of good action in it. now i cant wait to see what patchx is going to dish out cuz it allready looks great. well dont get me wrong all the mp maps are good to but me with my crappy 56k modem i cant play online vary much. i just wish i could posess the skill to make maps as u all can in forum land.

 

So can we plez get some more sp maps of guys out there that have the crappy 56k modem and cant do anything about it

SP maps really are in production, they just take a while to push out. The one I'm working on is of a student freshly graduated from the Jedi Academy on an assignment for the New Republic to investigate the rumor of an underground Imperial presence on Bespin... when he gets there, he finds (and yes, this will be in-game) people screaming and running through the streets from something... there will be a Dark Jedi that appears randomly to sabotage your progress until an eventual climactic battle high above the cloud line on the top of a building...

 

Areas will range from the streets of bespin, to catwalks below it, to jumping from rooftop to rooftop up top...

 

The thing is, such a map takes a hell of a long time to create. :p This is why you don't see many SP maps yet, but don't worry, they will come. :)
