I Hit Him In the Back...

I was dueling one of my friends and I guess he ran at me swinging, so I switched to Red real quick and strafed off to the left. He went by swinging and keep running forward.

I came up behind him and did the over-head Red swing, and it was blocked by his saber!

What the hell is going on!? That's stupid! How is it possible for him to reach around and block a heavy stance in his back?

If I take the time and effort to complete a strategy like that, I don't think it should be blocked, thanks to this stupid patch.

Not only that, but if people are running around swinging, it's almost impossible to actually hit them. No matter what I do, the saber is blocked. And they are swinging like crazy!

I don't get it. I try to put some strategy in and it gets unhumanly-possible blocked.

as of now, the only moves worth using are the special moves. Anything that's not a backslash, DFA, or medium finisher (haven't found a good use for the light lunge) is just a waste of time.

I've had guys DFA and I come up behind him with a medium swing right to the back of the head, only to have it blocked. Ironically, the only time you actually hit a guy with your saber (non-special) is when you're both attacking... so you end up trading hits, unless you use a stance with a greater range and get lucky enough that the two don't meet in the air.

And of course.... there's saber throw.....

A lot of people seem to have a very useful definition of things that are "useful."

I've seen the same people say that building 24 Battlecruisers is the only useful thing in StarCraft.

I've seen the same people say that a Firewall Sorceress is the only useful thing in Diablo II.

To me, what kills people is useful. And y'know what, everything kills people.

Believe it or not, it works the best.

I try not to rely on the special moves and I ahve disabled saber throw on my server...

more @$$ fighting... there are more moves that work. Work at it...

heavy combos work well... I gather if enough ppl use it, it will be catagorized as a cheap move...

While everybody else were DFA spamming... I was pulling/kicking/pushing people and @$$ fighting before It became what it is in such a short span... (pre 1.03)

I find it amazing ppl think @$$ fighting somehow became such a gift from god.

Its the F*$(#*ing SAME! NOTHING HAS CHANGED FOR BACKSTAB!!!

For all of you aspiring @$$ Fighting spammers... here is a tip...

SPIN with it...move your mouse around like DFA to catch any potential stragglers and dont stand there like an idiot afterwards.

I should of posted this here too

Everybody has a point...

But I think ppl are missing the point of it all.

First let me state that I am an exploiter, I will use every cheap trick that I can find and use it to the fullest.

Reading through the posts, I find a common factor in all this.

1. People are angry because they cannot kill as effectively as they are used to.

2. Most of the ppl posting on this got USED to a certain way of playing.

3. They found common formula and various derivations of their said "Skills" which worked effectively and made them effective players.

4. Any change of said rules and rules of their occupying world changed ie: Laws of Gravity. And they are finding a hard time adjusting to the new physics. ie: If gravity lost all of its potency, fat people would benifit since they'd be lighter and woud have more strength. Skinny people would have a problem with this, since fat people would be able to toss them around, causing perminent and further injury to their frail bodies.

I see this as a separation of not just 2 types of people... the fat and skinny, but of a 3rd class as well, which incorporates both fat and skinny people. The obvious benifits are quickly realized for the fat people... and it seems the odds are stacked against skinny people. But the difference and the 3rd distinction arises when either the fat or skinny learn to adapt quickly to the situation. This adaptation is using the giving rules and making it work for you, instead of trying to change it or cry about it. There are very *few* ppl catagorized in the 3rd framework. These are the people who seem to succeed in any given situation... Unfortunately, the voice of the ignorant, weak-minded, and lazy is overshadows them.

I say stop complaining, grow up, and learn new ways of exploitation. This is called developing Skills. Since it seems that any new formula used to its fullest potential is called an exploitation.

As for saber spammers... crouch, block all their attacks and give them a swift downward hack... Use the new heavy combo... I guarantee they will die rather quickly. Is this a cheap move? An exploitation? Skillz? I dunno, you be the judge of that.

There are more ways to destroy these lazy incompetent retards, just strive to find them out and use something that works for you.

so like, in Ep1 when Obi was fighting Maul on his own at the end, he does this really cool move... Maul swung at the back of Obi's head, and he moved his saber behind his head to block it, then move it in front of him again to block the other blade of Maul's saber which was now being swung at the front of his head. whats so wrong about that?

if the game detects contact between two sabers, there will be a block or deflection. so if he blocked your saber from behind, then your saber made contact with his saber before it made contact with him... thats all

also, by turning off saber throw on your server, you're giving back walkers an advantage...

a) the patch doesn't suck

b) use some other strategy (ex) if their swinging, at one point during the swing they are open attack them at that time

c) there are multiple ways to do damage without it being blocked

d) at least we have a patch, i have empire earth and it came out at christmas....and it still has a patch, and it kind of needs a patch for some of the problems.....(ex, free farms o_O and multiple heroes o_O)

e) it is actually harder to block stuff i find, before you could just stand still and they could only hit you in the back and special moves, (as long as you had your saber on and had your crosshairs on the attacker) now it's possible to take damage when they strike you....

Just face it.... this patch sucks.

It took any kind of logic out of combat and turned it into a light stance spamfest mixxed with the ass fighters.

At least i used to KNOW why i got hit or why i scored a hit. Now it just feels random.

And don't give me any BS about "change your stategy and skills". It is IMPOSSIBLE to do anything reasonable or worthwhiel against somebody who is spinnign liek a madman with their finger on the attack button in light stance. They simply move to quickly to possibly judge an opening. The only viable tactic is to cop the same strategy and hope for some luck or fight with your ass.

The bottom line is.. this patch just isn't any fun.

And i WILL start playing a new game if they dont fix it, but I had a lot of fun with last patch (despite the DFA spammers) and woudl liek to have that kind of fun again.

oooo, so everytime i kill someone spinning around like a chicken, i must be hallucinating then! because, well, i can pretty easily kill random spinners most of the time.

just 'cause you havent figured out how to do it doesn't mean it cant be done...

The spinners aren't my real complaint, just an added annoyance.

The real thing that irks me is the knock down and back up backstab maneuver. Or people runnign into groups backwards for a communal backstab. This move is WAY to powerful. I dont blame people for doign it, its the surest way to get lots of kills, but the developers really shoudl have spotted it. No move that is this easily executed should do 200 dmg when standard moves are now capped at 60.

As I stated earlier, the majority of the people that like this new patch are the inexperienced players.

You know why they enjoy the patch more? Becuase the spread of advanced to novice players were extreme. The average player will go into a server and die 0-5 over and over again at other servers. While the new patch brings everyone back down to novice level by completely changing all the tactics and styles.

So naturally the new patch will be liked by novice players. They can actually WIN instead of getting waisted by the experienced yellow style fighter, combo style fighter or a plain o' DFA spammer.

You were never experienced enough to feel assulted by the major changes. I didnt spend all the time playing this game to find out it is a beta test.

I would like anyone to actually tell me if you can accurately keep track of the opponet's hit points as you fight them. Before you can clearly tell wether you slashed him or not. Each saber did a distinct amount of damage.. For example you could two hit kill your opponet with an overhead yellow saber and a slash from the side. Or 3 hit kill with two yellow slashes and 1 blue slash.

It was realistic and you valued your life becuase you can die very quickly.

Now its more like Quake then Jedi Knight.

Lastly, what I noticed are less people bowing now then before patch. It seems like the roleplaying aspect of this game was torn away by stupidty.

I would also like to point out that I have been watching the total player statistics for this game and they have been dropping since the patch. I am sure there are a lot of displeased people who have just quit the game becuase of this. I am one of them.

oh yeah, i've been hit by that a few times... i think i even got killed by it once. if you keep moving though, you dont get killed. when you get knocked down, pound on that spacebar (or whatever you bound jump to) until you get up, and get the frell out of there. you will get hurt, but you probably wont get killed.

As I stated earlier, the majority of the people that like this new patch are the inexperienced players.

oh i see, then i must be inexperienced then? its very nice of you to try and generalize like this, but sadly like all generalizations and preconceptions, its wrong. i know many experienced players who have been playing this game since the day that it came out, like myself, who like the game even better now with the patch. i could beat people prepatch, and i can beat people now... and i very rarely used DFA or backstab. i personally have no problem with those who do, because its relatively easy to avoid... if i get killed by either, its my fault for slipping up and leaving myself open.

now thats just plain wrong and bordering on insulting. i suggest you take your own inadaquacies in your playing style and go find one of the empty servers thats still running the prepatched game... you can go fight some bots :p

I am sure there are a lot of displeased people who have just quit the game becuase of this. I am one of them.

what you should be quiting is making up information and preconceptions...

The man slashed him across the back: how much more open can you get? :D

Many strategies can be employed to get an opponent open, but when you create a situation that yields a clear, unobstructed shot, your opponent should be penalized for your skillful use of space or tactics. This is not always the case with our patched version of JK2. The code needs some tweaking.
