Surman Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 Thanks to Badakku I've been able to make all the floors in the death star reflective. Heres some shots so you can see for yourself (I know you've seen them before). Now a question for all of you. Sure this looks good but it does cause some slowdown, especially in detailed areas like hangars. Since it'll be you guys that actually play the level what would you prefer, attention to detail or a smooth running level?
Ten Tigers Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 I got a high end box, so Im screamin' for the reflective floor, and more attention to detail in general. Is this a single player "mod", or a whole new map you are making from scratch?
pud1 Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 wow that looks really great i hope u make a deathstar hangar bay with the duel room that vader and obi-wan fight in if not what u go really looks great reminds me of the coms room that han, chewy, luke and the droids waited in!!
Pedantic Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 I would say have some detailed areas, but overall optimize the level for performance.

UniKorn Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 Originally posted by Pedantic I would say have some detailed areas, but overall optimize the level for performance. I completely agree. Mapping is about finding a balance between eye candy and performance.
Leagle Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 But this is a must. On a lvl like this you've just got to pay attention to all the detail.
Brodieman Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 Put out 2 versions, Reflective surface and non-reflective surface.
__CKY__ Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 i agree also then if people are lookin for detail they got it and if their looking for not that much detail and better game playing dl the other one then noone can complain about it
Pedantic Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 Well, if you're going to do that, you'd best make a "medium" one, too, so people that want detail, but don't quite have the performance can get the best of both worlds, y'know?

C'mon......... how pedantic are you???!?!!! :D LOL!
__CKY__ Posted May 15, 2002 Posted May 15, 2002 lol i think everyone would want a full level not half of one
GB_StormTrooper Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 That map looks like it will be ****ing sweet.
GB_StormTrooper Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 Whats up? Is this map commin out or not? A little update would be nice...
Surman Posted May 16, 2002 Author Posted May 16, 2002 I may release what I've done, but the map won't be finished anytime soon, or maybe ever. From now on I'm too busy with work to edit, unfortunately.
Pedantic Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 Well, I guess I'm mostly speaking for myself on this one. My machine isn't exactly the best, nor is it the worst. I like the reflective floors, but I don't want a level that runs at 5 fps...well, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.
