avenger_au
From the FAQ: 3.24 Can you change hairstyles after character creation? Yes, but you will have to get another player to help you do it. A skilled enough player can change your hairstyle and hair color temporarily, and experts in the skill tree can make the change permanent. I want to be a Jedi Hairdresser. How would you like it if your random chance at being a Jedi comes up nothing, and someone else does not have to even take the chance but simply buy his account on Ebay. As for buying on Ebay, are you familiar at all with EQ and other MMORPGs? At its peak, there where over three thousand Ebay auctions up selling eq accounts, items, platinum...and people where buying them up like hotcakes. Someone could come in with some cash and skip by all the effert other people had to put into their characters at low levels to earn money/exp/and most of all items. This lessens the 'prestige' of earning these things the hard way, and ebayers where generally revilved by other players for a long time (and still are as far as selling accounts) If it IS random, then it should take a long time to find out if your character can be a Jedi. Say after so many levels and so much game time you will get the option to keep going along the path you are on or to 'change class' and start training as a jedi. Keep in mind that the longer it takes to find out if your jedi, the more valubale the account will be when sold. The best way would be to let people choose to be a Jedi right from the start, and make the path so difficult to follow that most people wash out and make other characters that are easier. Sure its great to be a jedi, but if your friends are all twice your level and growing and your still in the noob zones dodgeing imperial death squads you might want to change your class. OOO I'm sorry...but people are going to sell accounts no matter what. I don't see what making Jedi random will do...make the purchasing of Jedi more expensive?... I guess I just don't have a problem with people spending money to have more fun.

Lee_Wyndwalker
The Jedi population should work on a very small percentage of the total population. Say 3% of the total population. So every 3 of 100 people will have the ability to be Jedi's, this doesn't take into account their willingness to advance and become Jedi Apprentices, Knights or Masters. Verant will be smart in stating specific numbers simply because it won't give people false hopes of being a Jedi and simply not being able to. Of course, then you have the supposed arduous task of creating a lightsaber, etc. The main thing I worry about is playability. How is someone going to be able to play a Jedi in a multiplayer environment. Mind trick won't work, people just simply won't go for that. Blocking blaster shots will be iffy, and most likely random. They would have to create and extremely twitchy gameplay like Quake, or a better example would be Asheron's Call, in order to create the realism we really want when playing a Jedi. Verant should really take a lesson from Raven, actually, but make Lightsaber fighting more realistic, if a Lightsaber touches you, you lose a limb or die. People who play Galaxies will have to come to the reality that Jedi's will be rare, and more than likely they won't get the chance to become one, so don't get your hopes up.
