If Anakin Skywaker is so powerful then why...

wasn't he the Emperor instead of Palpatine? I always wondered about this. It seems to me that Palpatine was the most powerful Sith otherwise Anakin would have defeated him for the throne of the Empire right? How did Anakin lose to Obi Wan when Anakin pocesses more power? Then finally, I always wondered how Anakin dies so easily from the Emperor's energy bolts when Luke was taking them full force and he was fine. What do you guys think of this?

I always thought of Anakin as one of the strongest jedis out there but ya got to cut the guy some slack. for 1, he is in a freakin machine so thats got to slow him down a bit. Also the machine doesnt enhance him beyond his left glove, its a giant respirator. You've seen how much pain he was in when he tries to breath normally, the guys half dead. Oh well my two-cents

Hmmm, right about over-analyzing.

Palpatine is more of a metaphor for the Devil then a real character (you don't find out how he was created, or his motivations for wanting to be such a B-stard), at least in the morality play that makes up the Star Wars saga.

That said, I don't think Vader overcomes the Emperor because he is more ruthless than even Vader is. The Emperor is like Keyser Soze (the Usual Suspects). He is willing to do anything. Combine that ruthlessness with pure evil and you have a nearly unbeatable combination. Only someone who sticks to their guns on the other side has a chance to beat him. You can't beat him at his own game.

i dont remember vader ever losing to obi-wan (that is unless he does in epII i haven't seen that yet)...the only fight btwn them is when vader strikes him down and obi becomes one with the force...

Anakin can be stronger in the force but that doesn't mean it is unbeatable to a less powered jedi. Obi-wan, and the emperor had MORE knowledge or discipline, experience in the force.

The emperor fooled anakin to the dark side ( we'll see this soon enough :D). In the trailer of Ep 2 you can see and hear Palpatine say to anakin : " you don't need guideance Anakin. I'll see you are becoming the Greatest of all Jedi". That's mind washing to me.

The problem with anakin was that he had so much potential but no one could keep up with him to teach him right. Obi-Wan failed to teach him. He admits that in the SW trilogy.

So to set the record straight through rumors and facts gathered...

- Anakin is the strongest biological jedi/sith born one with the force

- Palpatine cheats his way to stronger connection through the use of an ancient rune, maybe the root to why he's so evil and the use of the rune was unintentional? who knows...

- Obi most likely beats up Ani in episode IIor III when Ani slips into the Dark side of the force, or the Sith. This most likely happens because he is still not a master of the force while Obi holds years more experience

- Luke, born as the son of Ani has obivously a strong connection with the force also, strongest? We don't know. He doesn't actually kill Darth Vader nor does he kill Palpatine.....so who does he kill (Master C'boath sp?)?

Thats basically all I collected from this...good summary?

Exactly. People want to be popular so they complain about it. ANH wasn't on the same level as ESB or RotJ, I imagine the next two movies will mirror that strongly. TPM had its weak points, but all things considered it was pretty cool.

People were just dissapointed that they couldn't see the entire next trilogy at once, which is what a lot of them were kind of expecting.
