Was it a personal message? I hardly ever check those. I'll go look now. And, I didn't want to give too much away, but my plan was to have the sarlacc's head come up when someone fell in. And, I was going to have it's tentacles sticking out, and writhing around a little bit.
Kranckor
That's great Cmdr let me find that link for the mural, oh and well I'm looking is it going to burp too? (e-mail me the answer if ya want) http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/vidi7/jpixx.jpg (you're gonna want to fix it though ) This picture decorated one of the walls of the luxury sail barge of Jabba the Hutt. It was about one-and-a-half metres long and perhaps four-fifths of a metre high. It appears to be a relief cut in tan/ochre sandstone, which according to SWCCG lore, was from the adoptive Hutt homeworld of Nal Hutta. The piece, entitled Ne Ganna Dateel Jabba is said to have been designed by a Huttese artist named Dreyba. The image depicts Jabba resting contentedly, surrounded by what probably were some of his favorite possessions. In his right hand he holds a large thin-necked jug which presumably held a drink of the hutt's fancy. In his left hand Jabba is cradling the head of one of his reclining humanoid pets. Another pet crouches attentively near his right hand, leaning against his mighty belly. Other pets are near Jabba's tail, or standing behind him. Two are holding fans. The whole leisurely company is under what appears to be a tent or canopy, and it seems as if there are cushions on the ground. The picture was tragically destroyed along with the whole sail barge and its passengers, after a joyride to the Pit of Carkoon went horribly wrong. The prisoners intended as live food for the local sarlaac managed to escape. They slew the guards, courtiers and Jabba; and then blasted the barge with its own defensive laser cannon. __CKY__
thats one tweaked up looking pics and are you really having the plan that can be controlled by a switch??
Cmdr. Antilles
Like I said, I'm only going to be modeling the interior if it seems like the framerate will be okay. And I can't know that untill I get it in game. Which is what I'm working on now. I've got most of my custom textures made now. If you can get me a sound clip of it burping, I'll do it. And yes, the skiff's plank is controlled by a plank.
Sine Nomen
Looks excellent. The attention to detail and accuracy lept out at me when I first saw the pic.
Thought Process
Originally posted by Cmdr. AntillesAnd yes, the skiff's plank is controlled by a plank. Eh? does that mean I have to slash the plank to make it move in/out? *snicker*
Verlex
NM about the aimed at you thing, Cmdr. I am truly happy that a decent sarlaac pit is being created. After seeing AotC just now I can tell all of you that your going to try mapping some of the new sights. THERE IS AN ARENA FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! heh, anyway I love what I have seen of the map and kudos on your designs thus far.
Cmdr. Antilles
Thanks, Sine and Verlex. I really like to hear that. Thought procces: There will be a switch on the skiff that you walk up to, press the 'use' key, and the plank will slide out. I've gotten a lot farther w/ the texturing, and I think the barge is really turning out great! Hopefully I will have an in-game shot tonight. Verlex
I havnt read through all the posts so you already may have stated this but are you creating new models or are you patch meshing?
Cmdr. Antilles
The whole thing is made of brushes and patch meshes. I'm getting ready for my first compile of the barge... It's 1:15 AM here... Heheh...
Cmdr. Antilles
I am so happy with how this turned out! I just did a fast vis w/ Gizmo's Tatooine skybox. I think it turned out well, and the framerate is well above what I thought it would be... So... expect an interior. Okay, two in-game screenies: http://home.attbi.com/~davidcrivera/images/jk2/barge.jpg http://home.attbi.com/~davidcrivera/images/jk2/barge2.jpg A couple of things to keep in mind: The exterior barge textures are all custom, so they're not the best. I'm not a photoshop expert. The rest of the texturing (deck, sails, etc) is NOT final. I just textured them quickly so that I could compile. Also, due to some compatablility probs w/ my GFX card, I have to run in 16bit color and 800x600, so this isn't the best screenie. Okay. Enjoy, and please let me know what you think. UniKorn
Try to put think caulks close to your patches mate, that are structural. That way you might be able to block vis for the inside part, and give it more detail. Just in case you overlooked that Although I think you didn't
Darkhold X
woohoo great to hear there is going to be an interior. Wouldnt be a whole lot of fighting realistate withought one, plus with it it adds to the accuracy. I didnt really think that the framerate would be a problem since some of the raven maps are gigantic.
Cmdr. Antilles
Uni: I'm not a TOTAL idiot. (j/k) Actually, I"m not sure if I'm going to caulk it all, since I was considering making some of the windows open (good sniping points. ), and that would defeat the purpose. And the reason I was worried about fps was the amount of patch meshes I used. In the back of my head I kinda figured it would be okay, but I'm pessimistic when it comes to mapping. Machine_IX
*Stares in slack jawed wonder* but..... That model + interior + another sail boat over a sarlak pit with individualy modeled teeth IN A DESERT SCAPE!?!?!? Surely OUTSIDE the barge the polys are gonna be painful. Even though "some of the raven maps are gigantic." they tend to be well visblocked. But then again, I got no idea about the limits of the JK2 engine. Antillies, got links to a good page about Rspeeds in a Q3 type engine? Whats a good number of world/entity polys? wait wait wait Didn't mean to hijack the thread... but I'm curious. Still though and again Good luck

Cmdr. Antilles
I dunno what's wrong with the pictures. They show up fine for me. Mabye my webspace when down for a bit. Try again. And I will put the mural in if I knew where it was... The interior is proving dificult, as I only have a couple of pictures to go off of, and it's hard to get everything to fit in there... I'll work it out somehow. Thanks for the gasps of amazement. And Machine, I don't have any links to that, sorry. I think I'll be okay. JK2 should be able to handle my map.
