Ok, I just saw Attack of the Clones (thanks to myself living in Germany and thus being in a timezone 7 hours later).

PROs:

That Imperial march at the end! And the "Ultimate Weapon"! And Yoda fighting (funny but still not silly)! And the switched heads! And Boba holding the Mandalorian helmet! And the ultimate reason to hate Jar Jar (who didn't suck that much this time): He brought the empire into existence!

 

CONs:

We didn't need a floating R2-D2. They should have done the Naboo/Tatooine and a Kamino/Geonosis plot without unnecessary cuts (switching the location with every scene was terrible), linking them together to bundles of three scenes each. This would have removed the breaks between the scenes. Owen Lars (hist last name just uses to be my first name, by the way) did introduce his girl friend Beru, which was unnecessary for die-hard-fans und unimportant for normal fans.

 

My Question:

What about any maps or skins with Epsode 2 characters/locations? Are some out yet?

I just saw the movie myself and while alright it wasnt all that the hype made it out to be. Certainly wont go on my personal favorite movies list. Btw, I thought the switched heads was only slightly less LAME than jar jar who had far too much screen time in ep2.

Living in the great land of oz I saw the move 13 hours ago now an the yanks still havent seen it. I thought it was very cool apart from a few things, like r2 flying, switching between the 2 storylines to often as well as natalie protmans attempt to cram fear,anger and sadness into the one expression in the opening scene (I know it sounds like nit-picking but first impressions r important).

 

and yoda is the coolest jedi of all time, I cant wait for a yoda JO mod with his super-fast, bouncing off walls, totally hardcore saber antics.

What do i think of the movie?

 

Good movie but has it's pros and cons.

 

What are it's pros?

 

Best view of Coruscant yet. Shows part of Coruscant never seen before.

 

Excellent Bountry hunter chase thru Coruscant.

 

Show the relationship between Anakin and Kenobi.

 

Good Story lines that deepens the plot and connects things together.

 

Clone Troopers are damn cool. Goes to show that Clone Troopers and Storm Troopers are not really evil. They are just very loyal to their boss. Fought incredible well and don't run away.

 

Yoda is very impressive as force user and lightsaber master.

 

ground Battle scene was fantasic. Blows away any star wars ground battle ever made.

 

Impressive Saber duels.

 

Shows the inside of the Jedi Academy and it's training of the Padawans.

 

 

What are the cons?

 

Saber duels are too short among each combatant. Anakin got his arm cut off too soon in the battle. Obi Wan got disable too easily. Yoda duel (although most fantastic) was too short then Dooku ran away. In the end you kinda felt impressed but wanted a hell lot more and unsatisfied. Phantom Menace Duel scene altho not as impressive as EP2 was at least satisfying.

 

Jango Fett fight with Mace Windu kinda suck. He died too easily. Blast blast blast and then slash, ahhhh Jando have no head. :-(

 

Anakin and Padme love story suck.

 

Anakin killing the Tusken Raider was cut short. BOOOOOOOO!!! I wanna see Anakin dark side.

 

 

My Comments

 

Firstly I love those Clone Troopers. They were cool. In this movie they were the good guys and fought well. No retreat no surrender. Calm under fire. Follow orders without question.

 

I especially like the part where the Jedis were leading them. Jedi Master Yoda became General Yoda and lead the troopers haha. waaay cool.

 

Jango Fett fought well against Obi Wan but kinda die in a stupid way with Mace windu. He stand still shooting and let Mace Windu come close and slash off his head. bumper. I expected a more climatic fight.

 

I understand why Ep2 was not call Clone war cuz it was just a prelude to the Clone War itself. I wouldn't be surprise if George call Ep3 : The Clone War.

 

As for the Dark Master. Darth Sidious/Palpatine was clever. He made use of that Dumbass JAR JAR BINK to get Emergency Powers. lol and Jar Jar even look proud of himself.

 

Personally i think the Dark Side is stronger than the Light Side. A single Dark Master can cloud the minds of all the Jedi Masters. Even in the same room they can't detect him. A single Dark Master will bring down the jedi knights and conquer the galaxy. The Dark side is obviously stronger but come with a too very a price tho.

 

Yoda was impressive. He could absorb the lighting attack with his hand. Wow. and his dueling was incredible. Gave me a new appreciation for the little guy.

 

I am confused about one part. When Kenobi arrive on the planet where the clone were being created, and he spoke to the Prime Minister and they spoke that a Jedi Master _________ (can't remember the name) order the construction of a clone army for the republic and that Jedi Master died 10 years ago, who was that Jedi Master? Was he an apprentise of Darth Sidious? Was he Darth Sidious himself thus being Palpatine? Or Did he forsee the creation of the Separatist army thus order the building of the clone army?

The Dark Lord they spoke of was Lord Tyrannus. Palpatine at the end of the movie refers to Count Dooku as Lord Tyrannus.

 

And don't worry.. I'm sure we'll see PLENTY of dark side Anakin in Ep3.

I disagree about the dark side being stronger, I think they're equal.

 

A dark side master can hide from all those people. We don't know if a light side jedi can't though. They have no reason/desire to, it's not how they are.

 

A dark side master gets control of the galaxy by doing the politics game (which is what they're good at from years of spreading mistrust). A little force suggestion here or there, and bam, you reluctantly accept emergency powers. A little pre-planningher (you are spinning your huge web here) and bam, your huge army is ready "just in time". As for the other jedi. Well, isn't that a boy with potential to be the strongest jedi ever? Yes it is, and look, he's still being trained and you have his trust becauseyou "helped" Naboo earlier. Well, a kind work here, a different pointof view there, and look,he's taken his first steps down the dark side's path.

 

 

Palpatine is a genius, he is probably one of the most cunning people the Star Wars universe has (I'd say the closest in cunning anyone has is Thrawn). He knew when to hide, and he knew went to stay and play. By staying under the councils nose, he is able to help with the growing problem of jedi arrogance, which keeps jedi busy dealing with padawans potentially falling to the dark side, rather than looking for the Sith Lord under their nose.

 

and I'm off topic. I think Dark and Light are balanced, with maybe light having more potential simply as you'd have more discipline with mastery over the light side as it's harder to acquire.

Actually, the Sifo Dyas thing was a misdirection on the part of Dooku. When Obi-wan questions Jango Fett about the origins of the clone army on Kamino, he mentions Sifo Dyas. Fett says he never heard of him, and that he was 'recruited by a man named Tyrannus'.

 

Sounds like Count Dooku aka Tyrannus placed the clone order using the name of Sifo Dyas. As Obi-wan mentioned to Mace and Yoda a little later, Dyas had already been killed by the time the order was placed.

actually there is no way of knowing who ordered the clone army. A friend and I were talking about it and we were thinking that it has somthing to do with qui gon jin. Why did they bring up that thing about qui gon being dooku's padawan? It served no purpose whatsoever in the movie so there has to be a reason. We were half thinking that qui gon may be darth bane (look for ep3 plot leaks on the net, there is no telling if they are real or not but they might close) but there are some problems with that theory that I am thinking about. Over all I thought this was an excellent movie. Did you ever notice that if it wasn't for R2 the empire would have won? He saves anakin and padme in 1 saves padme in 2 saves luke, han, and leia numerous times in 4-6. lol it palpatine would have destroyed R2 he would still rule the galaxy :-)

I was very disappointed.

 

 

Primarily Dooku was so powerful that Yoda, Obi Wan, and Anakin were incapable of even making him break into a sweat. To a lesser degree with respect to Yoda, he did appear to be in control of the situation. Anakin should have given him a run for his money before getting his arm hacked off; his saber performance did not make me feel that he was an incredibly gifted Jedi (as we kept being told).

 

Finally, the 'duel' saber battles were too short. Why did Lucas waste so much time on a love story with wooden performances? He could have given the treatment half of the screen time and we would have bought that they 'fell in love.'

It couldn't have been palpatine that ordered the clones because fo the simply fact that if had to have been a jedi that erased the information about the cloning system. (yoda tells obi wan this) Palpatine not being a jedi couldn't have done this. It's true that he could have ordered the clones and had a cronie erase the files but so far the only person who that could be is dooku and he can't have been with palpatine for very long. It would be very dangerous to leave the info in the system for 8-9 years while the army was being built.

It can' be dooku because he had no idea where the clone army came from. Remember the line "where did the jedi get an army so fast?" ?
