The Future of Star Wars

Do you think GL (or anyone else for that matter) Will do a complete remake of the original trilogy? I think it's possible because there are alot of holes that don't get filled unless you read the EU.

Also, after Ep3, do you think they'll make a series (i'm thinking more Babylon 5/space above and beyond than star trek here btw) as we know there's not gonna be vii, viii and ix, and i tihnk a series would be the best way to continue the story past RoTJ and cover all the EU.

Just my thoughts.

Yeah, Lucas has stated in couple interviews that he's shooting additional scenes for original trilogy, but in another interview he denied all that.

I have always thought he'll probably tweak(he's a perfectionist, you know?) some of those scenes that were left "unfinished" while doing Special Edition(perhaps they were still done in a hurry): visible croma-key lines surrounding ships and fighters(also Rancor) especially in RotJ, lightsaber/blaster shot effects that need finetuning in certain spots, sound effects that were misplaced in few scenes, etc. I bet he comes up an idea or two while doing Episode III and after that wants "to get rid of" Star Wars once and for all, so we'll finally see a "definite edition" of original trilogy on DVD in 2005 - 2007.

I peronally can't wait for watching all of these six episodes as one big 12-13 hour movie. :D

No new trilogy, but the words around the traps suggests some slight tweaking to them to include some scenes to blend the 6 movies together better.

Ermmm...not neccesarily. Lucas said he probably wouldn't do a new trilogy, but who really knows ;) I'm not holding my breath, mind you.

Also, I don't know about new scenes, but I know that John Williams wants to add some music to the ANH score (specifically the Imperial March) to round out the series (which he didn't really know was a series when he made the first one), and apparently Lucas wants to add some more stuff...so the DVDs may be the Uber Special Editions or something...

from what i've heard from lucas (he stated it in some interviews) is that he definetly won't make any new movies because he thinks that he will be too old to realize another trilogy once the episode 1-3 trilogy is done

...not to be rude, but how does this contradict my point that he said he probably won't make anymore movies (emphasis on the word 'thinks' in the sentence 'he thinks that he will be too old' :))? Like I said, I'm not holding my breath, but Star Wars is Lucas's vision, and sometimes when a man has a vision, he feels he has to complete it.

No one, not even George Lucas himself knows exactly what he will do in the future, we can only guess at what he will probably do.

ok ok, you're right (maybe :p)

ok, when a man has a vision he feels he has to complete it. but if he really loves that vision he knows that there is some point when he is just too old to complete it in a proper way, so he wants to end it before its too late

I want to see a Star Wars anthology TV series... like The Outer Limits. Not just one, long continuing storyarch--no, the SW universe is much too big and complex to stay with the same characters and situations through the whole run of a series. Have story-archs within the anthologies which encompas 2 to 4 episodes durring Sweeps... get Mark Hamill back to play Luke in a couple episodes... since it's not in movie format, Lucas shouldn't have a problem with it and you could make up a whole new continuity for the people who haven't read (or completely, passionately HATE) the EU books. Make it like the Star Wars Tales comic. I'd LOVE that so much!

Of course, we have had 2 new Star Wars films since then.

He was a young man after ROTJ and the same is no longer true for him, or of John Williams for that matter.

I think Lucas' goals with SW are to finish EP III, and then do his tweaking to the OT for the final uber-SE DVD release. I think that'll be it for SW then, at least as far as GL is concerned. He has expressed an interest in making others movies, and it would be neat to seem him do something sci-fi outside of the SW milieu. (Maybe something more for adults!!)
