Death Star Garbage Masher

(thanks to FatBoyTim for the exact name ;))

 

My last map is near completion, but this time, before the release, I'd like to show some screenshots here. To get feedback and perhaps new ideas.

 

 

1/ The garbage masher at work.

Perhaps would you think that's a little empty but I don't know what I could put now...

(I tried to put some breakable garbage but the func_bobbing don't break them)

 

 

2/ Here, you should get quickly in a safer place ;)

3/ You start above the smasher, I had to do so, or you could have spawned inside the moving wall :/ At the beginning, you can see your enemy but you can't attack him:

4/ From the upper start, you can see under you thanks to a glass floor. With a button, you can make this floor slide, to let you fall into the masher and fight your opponent:

5/ A shot while fighting a jedi (bots are supported) :

The music is more or less the same theme than in the movie... It is included in Jedi Outcast (artus mine, action theme).

Volunteers for beta-test?

Sounds like a cool map, but is the floor going to be water or metal like in the pic? And I'd love to help beta test on one condition: you help me beta test my map.

The floor is made of water (check again the vader shot, it's easier to see there). But the map is too dark to see anything else than black water :)

But when you play you feel very well the presence of water.

 

 

 

I'm ok to test your map, send it to jeggor@ifrance.com, or at least, send me a screenshot and a description if your map is not ready to be tested.

I'd really like to! But sadly, that seems impossible.

 

I tried to put a breakable brushe in the way of the compactor... But the bobbing doesn't impact it. It isn't even blocked, it just goes through as if it wasn't here :(

Hehe ;) I knew about the number.... but that's not THE Garbage Masher from the movie... There's no Dianoga (toooo bad), and no prison cell above :)

 

 

Let's say that is the Garbage Masher unit #326,3828 ;)

Perhaps you could attach it to the moving walls?

Well,

a: My level is having problems.

b: The water should look, umm how shall I say... cloudy? It's clear, water doesn't stay clear after having liquified garbage dumped into it.

 

 

But yeah it's a good map.

I can't attach some trash to the masher because when a duel is over, the map doesn't totally restart.

The bobbing movement is not set back to its original position (which is really annoying btw, even for the general feeling of the map), I mean that the bobbing masher will go forward, backward, forward, backward...

 

That's why I had to put the player starts *above* the masher in fact.

 

 

 

So if I put some garbage attached to the crusher, it will follow it when the crusher reopens, and that would look strange ;)

 

 

 

For the water, I'd like to give it more details, but I don't really know how to. Change the texture? Add some coloured lightings? Is there a way to make some wave or tide effects?
