will we ever see episode 7?

Lucas said in an interview that he would have liked to have made episodes 7-9, but he felt that the story was complete as it was, with really no loose ends after episode 6 to tie up.

And that he felt he was getting on in years, and didn't want to die before he had finished episode 9... or have someone else take over the story that he had created.

Therefore after Episode 3, there will be no continuations to the SW universe made my George Lucas.

Lucas doesn't come out and say there won't be episodes 7-9, but I think it's pretty clear where he stands today.

Although you never know, 20 years ago there weren't going to be episodes 1-3. Lucas is getting on, but he could go for another 20-30 years.

BTW: While roaming around I also came across this old but pertinent tidbit:

This jives with a story on the news I saw that was about Starwars and DVD. We won't get episodes 4-6 on DVD until after episode 3 is completed. And you can bet Lucas is going to restore, remaster, add, delete, etc. to ep4-6 until he is satisfied that there's nothing else he wants or can do to them.

Hopefully the last 'Special Edition' we will have to buy.

tell me about it, I brought the original films on tape, then when the re-release of the movies (with extra bits in) I had to go and buy them on tape, and as soon as they are released on DVD i'll have to go and buy them all over again, and then thre will be a special super extended eddition and i'll have to go buy that.

As much of a star wars fan i am, there will proably no more star wars films made by lucas him self.

but there could be more star wars films because of two reasons,

1. He will have to leave it in his will to someone, like his faimly, or a person he chose's

(If he is an ******* then he say that he dose not want the starwars saga to go on in the films)

2. The copyright on the movie dose not last for ever, when it dose run out something could happen then.

Maybe There wont be a film involving the skywalker faimly but maybe bobba fetta, or an nother jedi like

"The adventures on Yoda"

lol

ah ****, no point gessing right?

only time will tell...

I believe the ONLY versions of the Original Trilogy to make it onto the DVD will be the Extra-Special-Super-Duper-George_lucas-says-he's-finally-done-Edition that he'll tweak after the prequels are done.

I was talking to a friend about the future of Star Wars after the prequels and the possiblilty of 7-9. Here's my take.

7-9 won't happen. period. end of story. He allowed the Eu to become to large and cover too much of the material that he'd use for 7-9. When Lucas allowed the EU to use Luke and the New Republic and all the associated characters, he decided not to do 7-9. I bet Lucas puts a clause in his will that prevents anybody from continuing the Skywalker story in movie format. But...perhaps we will see more movies around a totally new set of characters set in a different time.

My gut feel is that Star Wars may very well contiune but not with the story/characters that we know today.

I think at some point someone has to make new sequels. There is so much potential in Star Wars as a story, and the universe of it is so expansive, not making moer films would be a waste of the license.

Here's how I think the 3 sequels should go:

Episode 7: Introduction od Mara Jade and her relationship with Luke

Episode 8: Remake of the Jedi Knight game, with Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors

Episode 9: Luke's Jedi Academy, and the story of his son Ben (he does exist, look on database on starwars.com)

Well, that's just my view!

Hello everybody...

i´m new here so don´t kick me for speaking loud.

i love all 5 movies i´ve seen so far. they all have their weaknesses but yet they rock.

The point about the next generation of sequels is that Lucas is already using Material from that era in his games, etc. so the new republic seems to get a new, interactive touch. which basically is a good idea.

The point most of us loved about starwars is the world itself. wether the skywalker saga continues or not, it would be time for some spin off movies set in the saga´s world which do not touch the original story but rather live aside it!

there are many great story tellers out there. and if lucas doesn´t want to bother with the story any more... many would be willing i guess. a good idea would be to make the spin off trilogies suitable for an older audience !

tink about it

i was with you till the part of "older audience !"

i dont think i want to know what you have in mind but i do think that it would be cool if he(lucas) is willing to give the rights to make a starwars movie to someone like kevin smith, and make movies about ewoks or like chewies life or even a f****** tv show on the other stories of starways that would be so f****** sweet

ups. before anyone gets me wrong...

i meant something like making new plots for a audience aging with the films. they all love it. but they do also know the story...

so the older audience would be far more happy with a new story. a new plot outside the main saga with an intense, thrilling storyline. maybe even single movies.

i myself have almost no troubles with any of the 5 films so far !

so have fun and mtfbwy all !

Maybe someday someone will make the ultimate fan film - Episode VII-IX, based upon the Timothy Zahn novels (since they are the most popularized continuations). Other then that, officially, there's only Episode III, a whole lotta books, and a whole lotta games with unique stories to look forward to 'officially'. =) Someone who would make a fan film similar to a SW film of that scale would have to be rich, and really know what they are doing, and have many many friends who really know what they are doing. =) I'm not saying it'd be impossible, it'd just be an undertaking as big as the original Star Wars.

It really is impossible. But we can only hope. It started with the films, and the fans deserve more. You have to admit that the greatest anti-climax will take place all over the world once everyone sees Episode III. "That's it" they'll say. Please don't let us say that George Lucas!!

I personally would like to see 2 more movies made for the Jedi Knight storyline. That would be really cool to see a full length movie made that follows Kyle, Jan, Jerec and the Dark Jedi's.

I'd also like to see a movie based on the book "Darksaber". I thought that was one of the best books to date. Wouldn't mind seeing a movie to "Shadows Of The Empire" as well, but because that took place between Empire and ROTJ, and since the actors are now getting pretty old, I doubt that will ever happen.
