Padme model in progress

Here a pic of a model that I am working on.

She didn't get to fight with a saber in AOTC so in JK2 she'll get to :) Besides that it's a fine honey and I hadn't modelled a woman before :D

I'm still tweaking the model a bit and will start mapping it soon. I'm gonna make 2 skins ... 1 with her clothes all neat and 1 after she's been rumbling around with that Nexu catlike creature.

It's a little bit under 2000 polys at the mo and I'm planning to keep it that way. Too bad that for JK2 you don't do the animation yourself but "only" have to set up the bones and vertex weights. That's the part I'm fearing :(

Please do comment on the model if you feel things should be different. I always have trouble scaling all the body parts to their right proportions and I didn't have too many reference pics.

the model looks incredible, except for one little thing ... i think her boots look too bulky/think/something ... at the top of them, where they end below her knees, there seems to be too much boot. am i making sense?

kicks @$$ man ... can't wait to see it finished.

btw, what software are you using to model her??

The boots are something I will change because you're right about the bulkyness. In pretty much all the pics I have her boots are really big and "beefy" but they might look better when they're a bit more slim.

I also haven't put a handgun in the holster on her hip so that I'll still have to add even though in a lot of scenes she doesn't have it anymore. I might show the gun in one skin and hide it in the other one. That can't be too hard ;) Probably something with an alpha channel in the skin.

I made this model with Maya. I've always been using Max but am teaching myself Maya and this model was a learning experience for modelling. The modelling isn't that much different but I think that learning to map in Maya will be a whole different story

it might be cool if she had the gun in her pristine, pre-fight skin. and in the one where her clothes are ripped up and stuff (wasn't it a little TOO convenient it showed off her belly so well?) she wouldn't have the gun ... oops, she lost it. ;)

keep up the great work!

Looking really good, I think you might want to give her more hip definition and you definately need to turn some edges on the back/butt.

Its a good likeness in the face, but it looks like you've given the head alot of time and the torso looks rushed in comparrison.

Thanx for the pic!

I had that 1 already but a much smaller version :)

I've been tweaking the model all evening and I just gave her a tiny bit more hips. But looking at this pic and the ones I have makes me realise .... dear Natalie has no damn hips! :)

Other than that she's <understatement>okay</understatement> looking :p

Thanks for the pic links and the feedback all!

I found these great pics today that I used to change some things around...

As you can see the boots are pretty big. I did change them in my model around a bit and they look way better now. I also changed her back, butt, hips and belly a bit so I think I'm pretty much done. With the model that is :)

I'll post a pic of the final model sometime later today.

Wow.

That is some nice work, man. :)

I can't wait for this. And I agree that the CTF colors shouldn't be covering the whole thing. Just a stripe or something would be better. :)

And if you're looking for another project after this (and since you seem to be so good w/ female modesl (3d ones at least. ;) ), how about this:
