Well, since we don't really know how they work, anything is possible. I believe it allows him a greater radius of movement, by rotating it in his hand he can create a little cone, probably makes quick strikes easier. XERXES
from the looks of it...it looks like it makes it easier to jab straight at people...like in fencing(sp?)
Boba Rhett
Yeah, he built it that way for better manuverability while fencing.
shidobu
so it has a curved handle to better emulate a fencing style, while fencers use rapiers and epiees which are straight all the way down? I saw his little fencing salute too. don't read too much into it.
Boba Rhett
He studied archive records and created a saber of the type that was standard in the heyday of form II lightsaber combat. Form II is an ancient technique that favors long and elegant moves and incredible deftness of hand. The curved hilt of Dookus lightsaber allows for superior finesse and precise blade control. This design gives Dooku an edge when facing Jedi, who have mostly trained to use lightsabers to block blaster bolts. Believe me now?
Vicious
Where did you find that out Rhett? for anyone who doesnt find his explanation satisfactory there's this: In actual fencing there different kinds of handles. An expert having a custom crafted or unique blade handle is not a surprise. One example: In foil style fencing (you try to stab your opponent with the end of the sword, basically) there are normal handles and gun style handles. as you can imagine they're shaped more like a pistol handle and you hold it much the same way. Those handles become more like extendions of your arm, and allow for quicker movements, that's what higher level people tend to use, or at least the higher level people I've seen.
