Nimda virus...wtf?

We installed the game today on another one our computers. This one is equipped with Norton antivirus, and apon installation it immediately popped up with a message that said that D:\GAMEDATA\Ikernel.ex_ was infected with the nimda virus. This wasn't a file on the hard drive, it was listed as being present on the game CD it's self. I don't have any virus protection on my own computer in my room, so for the past 3 or however many weeks I've been playing I've never gotten that message. My computer doesn't seem to be acting too oddly. But the fact still remains that the computer in our living room with Norton reported that file to be infected with the virus. Has anyone else encountered this? Perhaps it's just a misidentification of the virus? I have a hard time believing that LucasArts would release a game that was infected.

I did do a bit of researching on the nimda virus. Apparently it's some sort of virus that detects existing networks and infects them. I know that the game does something similar in multiplayer...it looks for and detects other game servers on LANs or the internet. I'm wondering if that's the function of this IKernel.ex_, to seek out the JKII games on servers, and that Norton confused this with the nimda virus. But I do want to know if I really AM infected with some sort of virus, so does anyone know anything about this?

I thought it was recommended that you disable virus detection when installing games (from original CDs of course), because sometimes things that go on in the install process can appear to be virus-like. However, as I recall, when I installed JK2 I left NAV running, and didn't have a problem.

I recall someone else had this problem and I also think you're supposed to disable virus software before installing. LucasArts wouldn't stick a virus on their cd's so I wouldn't worry about it. Unless it is a pirated copy. You could also scan the game directory after the game is installed to see if it still detects it.
