In the movies which are canon, only sith can have red sabers. The jedi can have blue, green, and now purple (sam jackson at least for the purple). In KOTOR, it probably doesn't matter a whole lot as long as you can choose the color of saber at all. Which has been tentatively reported that you can. Like somebody earlier pointed out, this game is based on EU so if you can choose the color of your saber it probably doesn't matter if you're a dark jedi or a jedi for the color you choose. This is all just a guess anyways.

Ewok Hunter
yes it is EU, and in a lot of the other games, JK2 come to mind, where they let you chose your saber color it wasn't limited to your aligment. you could get a gean blade as a dark jedi and a red one as a light jedi. of course games are the furthest away from cannon, even farther away then the approved books *shrugs*
DARTH ANDYZ
Yea but have u noticed that some thing bad happends to every main character who have a blue lightsabre for example ep1) obi wan loses his blue lightsabre ep2) Obi wan uses his blue lightsabre and gets wounded in the arm and leg, Anakin uses a green and blue sabre loses the green fights with the blue and then get his arm chopped off. ep4) Obi wan using a blue lightsabre get killed by vader ep5) Luke using a blue lightsabre gets his hand chopped off. And every1 who use a green lightsabre seems to be much better off apart from qui gon ep1) obi wan kills darth maul using green lightsabre ep2) Yoda almost kills dooku using green light sabre if he had not distracted him adn escaped ep6) Luke using green lightsabre defeats vader who inturn redeems himself and as Anakin skywalker kills the emperor and forfills his prophecy as the chosen 1 as the one who would bring balance to the force. So my request to bioware is give us a greenlight sabre if we can't choose i dont want to lose a arm of a hand or get my head chopped off (lol)
Ewok Hunter
first off:Welcome to the Kotor LucasForums Boards there is one kink in you reasoning, in ep.2 there are all those blue sabre jedi who lived and green daber ones who died.
DARTH ANDYZ
Yes I know but when looking at that pic there are actually six jedi with green sabres and six Jedi with blue lightsabres and most of the jedi there are not main characters they are mostly secondary characters like klo ploon,ki adi mundi, adi gaila etc.
Ewok Hunter
of course they are secondary charicters, if 12 main jedi chars, then the movie would be like 12 hours long. and about 12 i could have sworn hat there were more than that, I'll check when theDVD is released
DARTH ANDYZ
Sooooo what i'm saying is that every main character that is vital to the star wars trilogy using a blue lightsabre seems to get all the bad luck also I should have added this only happends when thay are against sith lords. Ewok Hunter
uhh, last time I checked the scene with all the jedi was them agianst droids . and besides how many sith lords have there been at any one point of time since the battle of Ruuan? DARTH ANDYZ
Yeah I know they were droids but what i'm saying is that bad things happen to Jedi that use blue lightsabres and are fighting against a sith lord Obi wan vs Maul-loses blue lightsabre Obi wan vs tyranus/dooku gets wounded in arm and leg Anakin vs tyranus/dooku loses his green lightsabre and then whilst fighting with blue lightsabre gets half his arm cut off. Obi wan vs vader gets killed Luke vs darth vader loses his hand Whilst fighting nething else it seems irrelivant.

I think why GL did this is to make a sith lord easily distinguishable from a jedi knight. This is done mostly for those people who have not seen a Star Wars movie or don't really know that much about it.....which is also why the jedi are limited to green, blue, and now purple lightsabers. (Don't want to confuse people )
Ewok Hunter
I know a way to resolve this, let's just say the red/green/blue/and sometimes purple limits in colors was enacted sometime significantky after the Sith war and thus, doesn't effect Kotor:cheers:
