Jasco Smlee Posted May 31, 2002 Posted May 31, 2002 Does anyone know if it's possible to have a dedicated server broadcast messages (using the say command?) to the players automatically? For example, something like "server : Check your player stats at http://blah.blah" every 5 minutes. Would some sort of mod be required to do this? Is anyone working on one?
MatrixCPA Posted May 31, 2002 Posted May 31, 2002 My admin bot is a perl script and will do that also. You can set the interval in seconds. Have you considered just making that your motd?
Jasco Smlee Posted June 5, 2002 Author Posted June 5, 2002 TheAphextwin, I checked out Jedi Runner. It's really good, makes it a lot more straight forward to get a server up & running. Two things would make it perfect.... ....an import command so you can import any existing .cfg files you have. ....some sort of option to automatically run a server as a Windows service. Then I would be happy

TheAphextwin Posted June 8, 2002 Posted June 8, 2002 I have put together a simple server messaging program. Install the program on a windows pc with an internet connection, specify a server IP, Port and Rcon Password, add your message(s) and set a time interval and thats it. Montybass used this with his Soldier of Fortune II Linux server and it worked as expected. This program should work with any Quake 3 Arena® powered server. For more information visit Custom Installs
Mr_Sharky Posted June 17, 2002 Posted June 17, 2002 Hey Aphextwin, would it be possible for you to modify the messaging program to send status commands at set periods instead of just messages? This would be good for tracking who's connected and for getting IP's to ban troublemakers etc...

Mr_Sharkey I have been playing with my server messaging app a little and have added a couple of things. I have added your request to send a get status at pre-determined intervals. I have also added the ability to send a typical rcon command manually. Screen Shot If you want to play with it drop me an e-mail

TheAphextwin Posted June 23, 2002 Posted June 23, 2002 Server Messaging 2.0. This program allows you to setup server messages to either a Q3A, EF, SOF2, JK2 or RTCW server. You can set a time interval for multiple messages with a specified delay between each message. You can send a server status command to 'bring back' a list of all players including their ip's, handy for banning. You can also send rcon commands manually. This is a work in progress and I will add the ability to schedule message broadcasting and have an option to send to multiple servers.
