BCanr2d2
Since when is the sky blue, as far as I know it is clear, and it is only the refraction of light on upper level gas that leaves a blue appearance. After all, from space we can see through the "sky" to see the world, there is no blue tinge to everything.......

Darth Webster
This is just too damn funny!!! Just to let you guys in on the gag, I'll quote myself from another thread heehee... yeah, funny how some folk seem seem to go outta their way to be offended. If I posted "the sky is blue" I'm sure someone out there would get all red faced and try to argue it to death! (maybe I should try it... see what happens). BCanr2d2
I just find it funny that you have based this on what is something you have never bothered to understand WHY the sky is blue, or gives the appearance as such. Appearances can be deceiving, if you are stating the sky is blue, what part of the sky are you talking about? The sky doesn't look any less or more blue from about 10 Km up in a plane, therefore the sky isn't blue, but only gives the appearance of being blue on it's most outer level. Do you breath blue air? You must if you believe the sky to be blue!!

Darth Webster
OMG ROTFLMAO!!!! Dude, did you even read the above post?? The one with a the laughing faces?? Did I say I didn't know why the sky is blue? Did I ask for an explanation? Did I say anything at all!?!? No, I simply stated the least offencive thing I could possible imagen just to see who would wast their time arguing with it!!
BCanr2d2
I just find it funny that when you are stating "The Sky Is Blue" is insinuates that you believe what you just said.... Without a real context to place what you said in, anyone can take it anyway they like...... There are alot of things insinuated when you making a statement about a fact, rather than it being just a sentence of inane dribble.... I could say "Space is Black" or "Space is a vacuum" and we could have the same reaction....

I don't think that this was meant to be taken seriously, was it?. I was just kidding with whatever I said. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. I think that that guy is joking too. I thought that he was making a crack at the forums and not you. He's making fun of all the arguing that's going on in the forums.

igor
Its not blue on all planets, Mars is a reddish due to the high iron content in the soil being reflected into the atmosphere.
Kurgan
The sky is blue because God decided "It is just cool that way." This was after the Almighty had hinted that "All will be revealed in time." Then He said (in His divine wisdom), "there are several metatextual reasons why it's blue, but I won't bore you with them." Later, He revealed that it was merely an aristic consideration "too complicated to get into at any length." Finally, He admitted that the Star Wars liscense laid down specific guidelines and it was really His only option ("and green just didn't do it for me. Don't even get started on the purple question.") With the other planets, He was given more leway, but the Earth was a strict issue, with not a lot of room for negotiation. At long last, the mystery was solved! Pedantic
Another reason the sky's blue is because oxygen has a slight blue tint in large quantities. Of course, this does not account for all of, or even most of, the blue in the sky.
BCanr2d2
I believe it is the refraction of Nitrogen, the dominant gas in the atmosphere that leaves the sky blue Once again I am filling in time whilst the World Cup is on!!
RobKerwin
My, My, you people really do have too much spare time to be talking about the sky. But, I do too, so do any1 of u know that the sky is blue up to 18 miles above the ground, but above that it rapidly gets blacker? At 20 miles it is completely black.
