Personally I think the more people bitch the more likely Raven will do something about it. If you guys don't like reading people's comments about 1.03 then why are you reading it? Another question to the people who say "It's just a game!!" If it really is just a game to you then why are you on a forum to talk about the game, and why are you taking the time out of your day to post about it? Do you guys just want Raven to chalk this up as another successful business venture and forget they ever made the game, or would you rather they continue working on it and improving it until we are satisfied? If you guys want the game to improve and you can come up with a better way to discuss what is wrong with the game and getting ideas to Raven then that would be awesome, but I really doubt you can. So what's the point to this post/thread? If you are going to post something like "it's just a game stop whining" don't bother, because you are just hampering our ability to fix a game that represents, for some of us, our favorite fictional universe. ThirdGenRX7 Posted June 3, 2002 Author Share Posted June 3, 2002 You are missing the point entirely, this is to save me time in the future so that hopefully some people will read it and say "oh yeah" and maybe save me from reading 5 or 6 posts of "it's just a game, get over it" for me that would be worth the time it took to write this out, and I was just pointing out to people that saying those things isn't helping the game get any better. Sounds egoistic, but question yourself, and you'll see its true. Basically it all boils down to that. And since everyone lately wants to do this sort of thing lately, this is just a thread in line... If you want to express your opinion by "whining" it's ok by me, say you hate the v1.03, I have no problem with it. Let's face it, was there ANYONE that was COMPLETELY happy with 1.03? Some loved 1.03, but hated backstab. Some hated 1.03, and loved backstab. Some were indifferent between 1.03 and 1.02, and could go either way. There are NONE that are COMPLETELY UTTERLY happy with 1.03 (sorry for those who are...just haven't seen ya on these boards..for a good reason I guess..lol) Atleast in 1.02, there was a large community who thought it was good. And most complaints were not about a move being too strong (these only came from people who could not defend against DFA) but rather the BUGS taht were involved with that move. But the people who came here were the complainers, who decided not to take time to go in depth with the game..whether they thought it was boring, or they just did not like to lose. Raven heard this, catered to them, and now 1.03 has come out, with more imbalances (in my opinion..). I guess what I'm trying to say is that yes, criticism can make the game good, and that's why people should do it. I made a good argument about how simply posting "stop whining" doesn't help anything. If anybody is actually going to post something like that they obviously don't understand what I talked about in my first post. And on mods/admins, just because someone has authority doesn't mean that they are right or deserve respect. Is it egotistic? maybe, I just want somebody to try and prove me wrong. That is why admins/mods will always win when it comes to opinions because the buttsuckers always like to side with someone who has power. Since you don't have any power I or most of others couldn't care less about the outcome of the argument. It simply doesn't matter. And as I said, the topic was discussed time and time again, and it happened the first three times when people cared, and then just stopped caring. The topic is old, told, re-told and told again. As for the original poster; the best hope right now is that Raven never releases a 1.04 so we only have to deal with 1.02 and 1.03 players. I see your point, but even with crappy criticism people will jump in and point out the flaws with the original complaint. I guess that in the end it's up to raven to sort through all the crap and decide who is making an intelligent argument and who is just complaining because they got whored by somebody better than they are.... and apparently Raven is doing a really bad job of that. Raven and all developers simply skip over any complaint that acts childish or destructive. It isn't worth their time to read. What IS worth their time to read are mature and constructive criticisms. Basicly it added about 6 hours of game play, little repayability, Buggy to hell, a bug that screwd over 1 month of play, horrible multiplayer, and NO patch. After about a month of that game I wanted to shoot myself in the head everytime I visited the forum. The point is its ok to post problems with the game, but if everybody and their dog have draged the topic through the ground it gets a little stale. How many topics do we need on backstabing?
