Episode I vs. Epidsode II

I have to admit I prefered Episode II.

 

Episode I was like a bad remake of Episode VI for me, complete with simultaneous Spaceship/Lightsabre/Ground battles at the end. That little kid Anakin was extremely annoying and I think Jar Jar was butchered by the stupid "southern cotton picking slave" accent they gave him. Oh - and the stupid ears.

 

I could appreciate that the seeds in Episode I were sown for the future, and a lot of people missed in the big celebrations at the end that in fact evil was right where it wanted to be (in contol of the senate).

 

Episode II was much better. Unexplained and mysterious plot elements combining with stirring action sequences. The only weakness was the terribly scripted and acted love scenes. I also thought the sabre fight at the end of Episode I was better than the Dooku fights at the end of Episode II. Lucas also somehow made Yoda seem cool to me. This is strange: I've always hated Yoda.

 

Still - I don't hate Episode I. I just think it is not a great Star Wars film.

I liked Ep. II better also because all the jedi got involved. But i did like Ep. I a real lot. I didn't really mind jar jar. The lightsaber battle with Qui-gon/Obi/Maul was great. But i think ep. II was more exiting...
