Telnet?!?!?!? ARE YOU CRAZY? use SSH instead! Telnet is VERY unsecure. You don't want anyone finding out your user or root password.

 

if your using windows on the client pc try this program for SSH.

if not most linux distros have SSH clients already.

Nearly every method of remote login out there is insecure. It's still a good point to install an SSH server on your box though.
