Guest starkid Posted July 11, 2001 Posted July 11, 2001 I was wondering if any one planning to make a remake of Dark Forces for Jedi Knight or Mysteries of the Sith. I was just wondering if someone would do it since I only have Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith. Your Friend, starkid
antilles1587245874 Posted July 12, 2001 Posted July 12, 2001 I think it will be very great to remake the previeus three games in JO engine...
Guest Boba Rhett Posted July 12, 2001 Posted July 12, 2001 There is a Dark Forces tc in the works for JK but I doubt it will ever see the light of day.
Gabrobot1587246497 Posted July 12, 2001 Posted July 12, 2001 It's posiible! Since I just recently got Dark forces I Decided to use jed to try a quicky conversion of the first level. Well I got it to work, kind of. The textures, whatever DF uses as cogs, mission end and most 3dos weren't converted, so it was basicly a empty, blank level with no goal. It did have enemys though! it converted the right ones, so stormtroopers were stormtroopers and not grans or something! So it is possible, if you can convert every thing, and make sure it's put together right.
BeastMaster Posted July 16, 2001 Posted July 16, 2001 IIRC the DF TC was for MotS. It's too bad they seem dead; DF in the MotS engine would rock, but you'd need whole new 3dos/keys for the 3 Darktroopers (none of those walking boiler-pots that seemed so popular in the fan-made lvls).
Gabrobot1587246497 Posted July 16, 2001 Posted July 16, 2001 I haven't heard of this TC, could you give me a link?
Guest Hannibal Posted July 16, 2001 Posted July 16, 2001 Anyone know what happened to the TPM TC? I can't get to the webpage anymore.
Gabrobot1587246497 Posted July 17, 2001 Posted July 17, 2001 Here's the TPM TC link: http://www.outpostd34.com/tpmtc/
Guest Hannibal Posted July 17, 2001 Posted July 17, 2001 Thanks. Doesn't look like they'll finish it though.
Gabrobot1587246497 Posted July 17, 2001 Posted July 17, 2001 Yeah. Oh well maybe someone will start a TPM TC for JK2. Then of cource there's obi-wan.... [ July 17, 2001: Message edited by: Gabrobot ]
Gabrobot1587246497 Posted July 18, 2001 Posted July 18, 2001 Anyone know where this DF TC is? If anyone does please give me a link. Thanks. [ July 18, 2001: Message edited by: Gabrobot ]
Guest Kurgan Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 I played one such "Dark Forces TC" and all it was was the first level of DF (secbase) converted to JK. The scale was off, the texturing bad, and there were no working cogs or enemies that I could see. It would be a nice project if done right. I believe you could convert (by hand) the sounds, textures, etc. You'd have to make new models for the enemies, or reskin pre-existing models to look like the new characters in DF, and you'd need to do the same for the weapons, etc. It would be a lot of work, but if you like that sort of thing, it might be nice. The point being that it'd be better looking than DF, and could have multiplayer support. Of course I'd rather see it professionally done by LEC or Raven, but they may not, so... Kurgan
Guest oninosensi Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 A remake of the secret base, Tak base, or the nar shadda levels for Mp would be cool.
BeastMaster Posted July 19, 2001 Posted July 19, 2001 Especially the Nar Shaddaa and Coruscant levels. I 've seen only one good Coruscant level (fan-made, natch), and it was still homm-infested and buggy with fps of about 6. Most of the User-made Coruscant lvls have half-decent architecture, but lousy matting. Why would the luxurious Imperial Centre be finished in burnished steel and gunmetal grey? Let's see some marble, and obsidian, and gold! I've forgotten the URL for the DF TC, can anybody help Gabrobot?
BeastMaster Posted February 12, 2002 Posted February 12, 2002 Can you say "old thread?" :rolleyess Anyone still looking for a half-decent DF remake, get thee to Massassi and check this out. It's based on the first level of DF, as seen in the graphic novel Rebel Agent. It's dazzlingly good; hopefully the author will feel compelled to lend his obvious talents to an ongoing DF project.
