Rogue Nine
NJO Spoiler warning: In the first NJO book, Vector Prime, Chewbacca dies when he is rescuing people with Anakin and Han from a planet whose moon is about to crash into it. The Millenium Falcon is airborne, just as the moon is nearing impact. Chewbacca throws Anakin up to Han. Anakin then takes control of the Falcon. He sees that the moon is about to crash. He yells at Han to get Chewie, but Han is unable to grab Chewie in time. To prevent Han and himself from dying along with the people on the Falcon they've rescued, Anakin puts the Falcon into overdrive and gets away from the planet, leaving Chewie. The last they ever see of Chewie is him standing there, bloody and bruised, but with his arms raised in defiance, as the moon comes crashing down onto him. I hate the NJO series for that reason, among others. But Chewie's death is unforgivable.
JandoFett1842
Chewbacca doesnt die, ITS A CLONE. The Yuuzzhan Vong captured Chewie and put out a clone to really piss Han Solo off. Read some of the new stuff.
Rogue Nine
You have got to be kidding me. If what you say is true, then the NJO series has indeed gotten stupider.

GidionTheDead
Oh my god... A character died... After 30 years (or more?) of continued battles with Dark Jedi, cloned emperors, alien invaders and imperial forces (I wonder where the got the new troops, even after the failed each campaign for 30 years...) a character died... HOW UNREALISTIC... [sarcasm detector activated... warning! sarcasm detected ] I am happy to see that the EU authors finally realized that Star Wars needed some fresh content, instead the old "heroes fly to the planet, heroes feel a disturbance of the force, and heroes overcome the imperial remnants". Call me a heretic, call me a traitor, but I like it.

Bungalow
Which of the NJO books says that Chewie has a clone? Doesn't sound like something the Yuuzhan Vong would do, they'd need a machine to clone Chewie, and they hate machines

Vestril
Originally posted by striderx2048 blame r.a. salvatore he likes to kill and maim has characters No...actually a group o authors and editors got together and thought out the main storyline for the NJO, they were told that some characters were untouchable, and some could be killed off. Apparently Chewbacca was expendable.

Zindell
Somehow I don't believe Jando... but i do agree it's about time a character dies inexpectedly. It is stupid when the good guys always win. but every movie they do. THings like that keep you wanting to read more. adds more suspense to the rest of the book. who could they kill off next? Vestril
According to Starwars.com in Traitor a young Jedi, believed dead, will return with Vergere and a new understanding of the Force. This will be either Anakin or Jacen (who is kind of presumed dead at the moment). So even if Jacen 'dies' he might return. Or Anakin might, though Jacen was more set up for it, character-wise... here's the link http://www.starwars.com/eu/news/2002/04/news20020419.html
