]V[GoldEagle
I set up the Ghoul2 stuff as per the settings I saw, and tried it out, yet things were still going the same way as before. Now do I need to install anything on the server, and do I have to get all my players to set it up in their files as well, or can it just be set on the server, and be set to work. Please help, as we have had to ban bs, and even threaten banning the player if they use it. Thanks in advance for any/all help that you can give. MatrixCPA
Are you using 1.03a or u1.04? I have a feeling that they put the ghoul2 cvars in 1.03a but hadn't updated the VM's at that point. u1.04 may have the updated VM's to make ghoul2 work. I personally haven't tested them out. ]V[GoldEagle
I know I'm running 1.03 on both my system and on the server I'm working on (remotely working on it), but I haven't seen any 1.04 update anywhere. If that is the problem, then I'll be sure to get that patch, and patch everything up. Thanks!!
MatrixCPA
There's no 1.04 "patch". However, if you get a hold of an compile the source code that was release (unaltered), there are some things that they changed. The ghoul2 cvars might be one of them. Most admins refer to the compiled source as u1.
]V[GoldEagle
Thanks for that info Matrix....but since I'm not really a programmer/coder, I don't know how to compile code. Is there a way that someone could turn it into a patch of sorts, so that those of us that don't know how to do that would be able to use it, and install it?? I'm getting sick of the people that refuse to obey the rule of not using backstab on the server I administer, and having to kick and ban person after person. Thanks for your time, and for sharing info. Peace.
Crybos
Me and MovingShadow are trying to get this thing to work. we have u1.04, but it doesn't seem to work. MovingShadow was the one who uploaded. We did everything that it said to do.. ...Just doesn't seem to work..
mInk3nine
so what are the two commands to enable ghould2? i'm too lazy to dig around for them. my server is running the dedicated 1.03a version straight from raven, so it should work right?
NerfYoda
You only need one command to enable Ghoul2: seta g_saberghoul2collision "1" Some people will set trace saber off. I leave mine on, but your server is your server. seta g_saberTracesaberfirst "0"
jmcmike
Hmm... I was under the impression that ghoul2 was already "in the game" so to speak. What do these vars do in a multiplayer game. Does it allow you to hack off limbs in the middle of a fight, like before the opponents health = 0? Justin
Kurashu
To set dismemberment on a server you put g_dismember 1 (or even 100) as a server and clients should put cg_dismember 3 (since lower than 3 only show dismembered arms) in the console. Btw, whats the difference between Trace off and on?
jmcmike
I know how dismemberment works. That's exactly why I'm asking what this Ghoul2 cvar does. What does it supposedly do? Justin
]V[GoldEagle
So far, with the u1.04 update, and the Ghoul2 on, it's giving a significant reduction in the hit amount of backstabs/swings, and the fights are cleaner. You actually have to hit your opponent to get damage, aside from just being in the range, unless of course that is the other command (brain shut down, don't remember it). Now what I want to know is the command for lowering the effectiveness of the kick, since it's being spammed/whored on the server I admin. Any help would be muchly appreciated. KnightHawk420
To simplify the explanation the saber works just like it does in Single Player... except your saber can't get knocked out of your hand like multiplayer. Overall it seems to improve blocking, and force blocking is way better. No longer can pull be cheased. With this setting on, you will have players complain of how fights are too slow, ignore them.... they didn't really know how to play to begin with. Zeke2k1
I have ghoul2 enabled on my 1.03 server "gOt_bALLs" (68.12.164.174) and it works great. The players can actually block or partially block backstabs etc. I no longer have to worry about the "cheap" moves that much or complaints about them. I use Jedi Runner 1.4 from http://runner.gameadmins.com/ It's great for all kinds of tweaks for the server and so on. All I can say is try it. There is a tab specifically for Saber Combat Settings. In other words ... A HEADACHE RELIEF better than that of tylenol. Good luck!
