RedHerring
Radeon 8500LE 128MB to be exact. No one seems to like ATI cards that much. What's the problem with them? I have one now and it worked up to my expectations. Plus, with the new Catalyst software, you can run diagnostics and tweak stuff easier.
Robbiesan
ATI used to be lousy at working on drivers for their cards.. over the past 8months+ this has changed.. I have a Radeon 8500 but I was reluctant to buy it.. I had heard about driver issues which concerned me.. after talking with 8500 users I figured I'd give it a try.. I have to say I am very happy with my Radeon 8500.. My next card will be the R300.. for what it's worth the ATI haters can pay way too much for their Nividia cards forevermore.. we know we have a great card... EaSyKiLL
I agree with you guys, buying a 8500 was the best computer decision I ever made. I was kinda worried at first because they were not updating the drivers very often, but the last few months have been awesome. Plus they are releasing new whql certified drivers and according to John Carmack it is the only currently available card that will be able to run the new Doom engine at a playable rate. Clem
i heard that radeons couldnt do the new unreal engines i gotta buy myself a card to do that cos i NEED unreal 2 and unreal tournament 2002
chopp3r
I bought one..took it back though because of less that perfect visual clarity and the damn seams in q3 skyboxes! other than that..seemed pretty decent for the money.

Raedons rule because you get HQ graphics (not as nice as Nvidia) but at half the cost and you get more for your money Hints: all-in-wonders
RedHerring
Sorry to disapoint... But after reading several reviews, I think i'll go with the GF4TI4200 @ 128mb ddr......for now if the new ati/nvidia/matrox cards cost isn't too bad, I'll be picking up one of those

darthfergie
Have any of you read about the new Parhelia 512 chip? If not go out and grab a copy of 'Computer Games' They have a two page preview on it and it looks like this card totally blows away both ATI and Nvidia! It looks so freacking cool! FunClown
NVidiots don't like ATI cards because they feel threatened by them. NVidia is like a computer geeks football team (not to sound too offensive, but you know who you are ) Basically, they feel threatened by ATI. You won't see them bashing SiS or S3 or any of them because there not even worth bashing, ATI is.
Zindell
Sorry ATI is worth bashing? Anyways I have A GeForce3, and it serves it'S purpose. That's all that matters to me. Buy whatever you wanna buy it's your computer what's he point in arguing, My video card is better than your video card. what does it matter. FunClown
I agree with you zindell. Your video card is better than my gf mx 100/200. I'm planning on upgrading to a ti 4200 later this year. I'm mostly basing this on price / performance. At the moment the 4200 is cheaper than an 8500.
Zindell
Sorry I meant there is no use in debating whether my video card is better than your video card. People have a personal preference over certain brands and what they want from their card. Kudos to them, There's no use arguing something so pointless. Darth_Lando
I was reading a thread at NVNEWS.COM and this guy had a GF2MX and someone gave him a Radeon8500 for free and he installed it and he said it ran worse than his gf2MX so he put the mx back into his machine and gave the 8500 to a friend! He says the 8500 can not touch the mx. ROTFL!! And that my friends is why ATI is bashed. Simply because that is what people want to do and no facts are going to stand in their way or change their mind.
