Well the republic/empire rules the galaxy.

Galaxy=millions of stars/suns.

millions of suns= millions of planets.

All the planets may not hold life so maybe take away about 70% of all those planets cause they dont hold life. Youll have about 30% of the millions of planets in the galaxy controlled by the republic/empire.

Although I doubt that they control the whole galaxy. More like a few solar systems. I think they just say the whole galaxy to sound more overpowering.

Well... technically, a planet has to "join" the Republic to be considered part of it (they pledge to support the Republic and in exchange get a seat on the Senate).

Hell, that's a good way. Look at Ep1 or 2 and count how many little booths there are in the Galactic Senate. Then you'll know. :p

Yeah that's a good way of looking at it. I never thought of it that way, there are a LOT of booths there.

I thought there would be a lot more than that!

btw:RichDiesal - I like your Kamino map! Could do with some rain or lightning or something though. ;)

Yeah, and maybe not every world was even represented in the Senate.

Just think of it like this: the Republic was the most powerful ruling body. It governed the galaxy, but obviously ended up losing control--no one can effectively govern something so large. That's why America is split into 50 states. :p
