Qui-Gon Jinn was never a Jedi Master, just as Obi-Wan never is. The term Master is used as an honorary term, especially by non-Jedi, even for Jedi Knights. There are both Jedi Masters and Jedi Knights, but both can be refered to as Master.

If you don't believe me, go check out a recent post at StarWars.com to the "Jedi Librarian".

Obi-Wan never truly achieves the rank of Jedi Master, neither did Qui-Gon Jinn.

i once asked how they get their ranks...like when they attain knight status, when master...what's before knight? is there a rank just called 'jedi' like in the game...blah blah

i was told you become a master once you train an apprentice, not sure whether that apprentice must pass that 'trial' thing before the teacher becomes a master

Qui Gon was a loser, thats why he got wasted. His padawan beat the guy who killed him, how pathetic is that (he was using his anger, but still)?

i dont think so. me and zindell were fighting a war agenct this total jackass who thought he was a samurai.

Remember that Qui-Gon used the living force. He was much better in the force than Maul, but Maul was specially trained in the hard double- sabering, wich made him a sligthly more dangerous opponent.

no! vader was a knight cuz in EU he had an sith padawan Mara Jade
