Another Yoda Saber

Ok, I unwrapped the hilt and I almost finished skinning it. I did a test today to check if everything is going smoothly with the skin and when I tried to export it as a md3, it gave me an error saying that the uv map is not corresponding to the texture. I know what it means but it's really strange since mapped and I skinned every part of the saber. To give it a try I ignored the error and renamed everything and created the skin file. When I was done I exported the model and loaded it up in MD3. But now the texture is not showing up.

Please help me so I can release this greenbladed motherfuka.

i dunno if i remember wrong but that emitter guard at the top of it didn't seem to wrap that far around the emitter in the movie. otherwise great job man.

THX man, to bad I didn't get these ref. pics earlier. Until now, I used the one from the posters and movie.

BTW, I fixed the peoblem and now everything works fine. I restarted the texure because I didn't like the first1. I'll be taking my time to make it as exact as possible.

I can do the texture myself, but I believe that I might need some1 to make the shading and lightning. I heard that a reflection shader could work too.

Ok, I got the saber in game but the texture doesn't show up. It all started whn I exported the model from max. The exporteer give me an error saying that the texture does not fit the mesh 1:1 (many people though said that their getting the same error but it's not causing any problems). Later I opened it in MD3 viewer. The texture was showing without any problems and everything was fine. However, when I loaded the skin file, the texture disappeared and everything that was showing up was the my saber in white. I ignored this and got it in the game anyway. The result was a gray saber that was perfectly alligned to the hand.

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I'm with you, I'm also having this problem with the skin not applying. I also get the "One to One" error when exporting from GMax, but I think this is probably due to breaking verts while unwrapping.

iam no help of your problem, but i had to see your saber is awesome, imean it, wish i could make things like that, ive only made little things,

u using GMAX? idont understand it so im stuck wiv milkshape even tho u can do sum cool stuff wiv it,

if ucan, would u be willing to give me tips or something that will help me to model things like saber hilts cause it will help me improve on my modelling skills:) or a good tutorial 4 milkshape, please really appreciate it and hope 2 be as good as you at them one day.

It's just all a matter of practice. The more time you spend on your model, the better it's gonna get. Just start of doing simple things like creating a cylinder and start scaling and moving the vertices around. I'm using 3ds max but for low poly game modeling gmax is exactly the same.

Check out this thread for tutorials:

Later on, u can apply the skills that you learned in the tutrials in your own saber. Remember, it's all a matter of practice. Just create some cylinders and edit them...

I can't just sit here and watch you diss yourself about your texturing. It's one of the best Yoda Saber Hilts I've seen so far. (Yoda is my favorite Character and I can't wait till his Character model comes out). I think it would be neat to learn how to make Saber hilts but I'd rather make Character Models but I don't know how  I'd be glad to be someone's apprentice (or Padawan hehehe):yodaball:
