Jemek Sunns
Me again. I'm working on a pit, but for some reason the cushion and trigger shaders will not come up. As near as I can tell, I have all the patsh in the project settings correct, so I'm miffed. Shuld I try reinstalling?
Pope2k
What exactly do you mean by "won't come up?"
monsoontide
Hi Shadriss, Just been having the CM_InlineModel : Bad Number problem myself. From what I could find by hunting through various forums is that is something to do with a func_brush that requires a trigger not having a trigger pointing at it - i.e. it's a faulty door or lift. I tracked my problem down to a lift I'd just added but every time I rebuilt it I'd get the same error, so I'm currently trying it out as a func_bobbing. I suggest using FastVis to hunt down the problem and try removing newly added func_brushes. Hope this helps! Monsoontide
Shadriss
If that's the case, then I only have a few more suspects... thanks for the lead, Monsoon. I hope this DOES fix it. Incidently, is there an upper limit to brush count in a map (MP)?
monsoontide
Not sure about brush limit (But you can bet there is - though I have yet to reach it - I hope), but I know theres an entity limit (of sorts - if there's too many the Q3 engine just starts ignoring them - I think) and I think a curve patch limit. Jemek Sunns
I just reinstalled, they are there now. Well back to mapping.
Shadriss
OK, Monsson, thnks for the lead. I took out ll the doors and lifts I added for this section of my map, and it runs now... Guess I'll have to add them back in a few at a time. As for the upper limit of brtushes, I can tell you it's higher than 7000. Right now, this map has some 7100 brushes, , and it's little more than 60 % done. Man, I have a lot of spare time for this...
monsoontide
I also suspect the problem has something to do with the shape or perhaps even position of the offending function brush. Every time I add this lift in even though it's completely rebuilt, it gives me the same error. Take it out and it's fine. The platform has the corners trimmed off so that may be something to do with the problem. I need to do some more research on this. Shadriss
Let me know what you turn up. Maybe it's lift specific, ,and the doors have nothing to do with it?
monsoontide
Yes, I don't want you to pull apart your map looking for something that may not be there. I'll try and find more specific info - everything thusfar has been rather vague "well, it's sortta, kinda, ya know..." Monsoontide

monsoontide
Shadriss, I've been able to find no new information on this - there are several other people in different forums who've asked this question to no avail. HOWEVER, I have discovered that it seems to be a MP engine problem related to func_brushes. I have tested my map in SP and it works just fine but when I put it into MP mode - BAM - the CM_InlineModel : Bad Number !!!! I suggest you try testing the level in SP and let me know if you have any luck. I also really wish to know what this is and how to solve it. monsoontide
Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An entity that requires association with a brush, Such as a func_wall, func_door,or trigger_once has no brush associated to it. N.Weer This can happen if you make a bush entity, like a door or exploding box, then set the content to detail. I had it occur only when I compiled the level using the -nodetail option in this case. The brush didn't exist in -nodetail, so it returned this error. ___________________________________________________ However, this seems a bit inconclusive as my brushes were most definitly structural and not detail. Jemek Sunns
I'm attempting to put a door into my map. It is placed, works perfectly, except it is not using the soundset I set it to. It sounds like an Imperial door, but slower.

RichDiesal
I know many of you have been dreading this post, but alas, I cannot forestall it any longer... Having just reformatted, I have realized that I no longer possess a JK2 CD... also having just formatted, I have realized that I apparently forgot to save the majority of my work... Now of course, I do have a backup of my work, but then again, I also have realized that I just don't care enough to go retrieve it. As many of you likely know, I have been swamped with work and presentations and such for my classes/work/internship and just do not have the time to devote to updating RDMU or posting answers anymore. It has been a fun ride, but I must officially announce my retirement from this community. I will still be in and out on occassion, when I have time, and may in fact return next summer, but until then, adieu, aloha, and adios. I will also not be answering the majority of questions in my e-mail (that slew of email is the main thing that's taking so much time and sponsoring this decision). So again, I apologize for leaving you all out waiting for the rest of the lessons for this long, but I honestly thought I would return to it before this. SunBurN
Rich, Sorry to see you go and sorry to hear about your computer misfortune. I really appreciate all the help you've given me and I hope you do return someday. I'm also sorry you're not going to release your map..it was looking really good but I understand how you feel. I've been getting nothing but extremely long compile times with my current map and then when it's finished, I still find occasionally that something doesn't work and at a times, I've almost given up. *Sigh*... Well, Good luck with your classes/work/internship etc. Take care, SunBurN
