About Darth Maul Fear quotes

Mandalorian iTi

To my knowledge it was merely used as a promo. There's a TV commercial for Darth Maul that has those lines in it.. I think I've also heard that those lines are used in The Phantom Menace PC/Playstation game... Though I'm not sure because it's been an unbelievably long time since I played/beat that game... Hope I shed some light on it...

PS To anyone who has the DVD (I'm waiting til all 6 are released, THEN I'll get the DVD versions), is there a cut scene with these lines in it?

The Episode I DVD is a 2 Disc set and Disc 2 features promos, trailers and other 'goodies' and in one promo you hear Darth Maul recite the 'Fear' lines.

But it is not in the movie, not even the longer DVD version with extra scenes.

I have the DVD as well as the VHS version and in my honest opinion the DVD is more than worth it. It's a longer version with more scenes that were cut from the theatre/VHS version and on top of that the picture and sound quality of the DVD compared to the VHS is simply so much better.

Crisp clear image, razorsharp details, backgrounds visible and discernable, the colors are much more 'alive' and vibrant, and the sound is just awesome. :D

For Episode II I am getting the DVD, no doubt. (DVD is usually always of a higher level of visual and audio detailing and quality than VHS.)

Yep... they didn't like his nasally british accent... There are so many different british accents when you think about it... Same thing happened with Vader if you think about it... They didn't like David Prowse's accent, so they got Jones to do it... And it turned out great.

Peter Serafinowitch did the voice for Darth Maul, because Ray Park has a thick Yorkshire accent. It would have been a "Darth Farmer" repeat!

The quote "Fear. Fear attracts the fearful..." was going to be used in the film and was cut right before the film went to the cinema. I think he was going to say it before he duelled the pair of Jedi.

Still, :vadar: would kick Darth Maul anytime! :lsduel:!

Actually the reason they used James Earl Jones' voice for Darth Vader was because when in 1977 Star Wars A New Hope was finished and ready to be released they stumbled on the fact that there was no black actor in the movie.

Seeing that in 1977 this could have turned into a seriuos racial issue and hindered the box office performance George Lucas wanted to have at least some 'representation'. And who better than such an icon (and with a great voice too) than James Earl Jones?

At least that's what I always read about it. (I hope no part of this post would be taken as racist in the slightest way, it is not meant to be so, merely a recollection of what I always read. My own views and opinions are not explicitly stated but I can say that in general and by my character, race is not an issue, to me the only race there is is the human race.) :)

Come on, AgentSmith. Who can brand you a racist when you have the hots for a blue-skinned alien female? LOL!:D

Interesting point about Ray Park. On the DVD when he speaks briefly, I noticed his voice did not sound the same as Maul's, but I thought it was because he was not really trying, you know, some actor's have what they call their "screen voice". The dubbing was excellent. No excessive facial or mouth movements at all.

I have one question. Why does George Lucas use so many British actors? Just curious.:D

I've not heard about the racial issue, but the only thing I'd have to say is if you're going to have a huge precense like the one David Prowse brings to the screen as Vader, then it's best to have a huge voice to go with it. I haven't much experience here Prowse's voice, so I don't know how well it would have worked, but James Earl Jones fits the bill perfectly.

Seeing how George Lucas is one of the pioneers of special effects, digital imaging and such and his will to make this more used and perfect the medium of film it's logical he would promote the DVD, the newest generation in digital viewing with outstaning image and sound quality by adding extra scenes and 'goodies' to the DVD hence making it seem 'worth' more than the VHS. :)

But in my opinion, even without added scenes, a DVD for a movie like Episode I is already well worth it because it offers a tremendously superior and great visual and auditory experience compared to VHS. :):D

Thanks Norin! :D And to be honest though my fandom of Aayla Secura is with the realization that she is a fictional character. (I'm not that much of an obsessed freak, though most would not believe that. :p) I would have no issue or problems being -befriended, work, have a relationship, socially interact- with someone who would have a blue skin and lekku. (Or most races that you see in Star Wars and such ... excpet maybe the Yuuzhan Vong .. and the Hutts ... they're freaky... :p)

Beauty is only skindeep and character, soul, friendliness are more important than one's appeal and look so if someone would be a caucasian, indian, asian, ... human or a blue, red, green, ... Twi'lek doesn't really matter that much in the end. :):D

and our country is also a very meddling one.....sad but true.......many times have we moved in and ousted leaders of countries because they disagreed with us....then we put in a pro american leader, and this leader turned out to be tyrannical....I still think tis a very great country....we just have made some bad mistakes

I believe Lucas uses british actors because he thought that they have more sinister sounding voices, actually........

And Ray Park would not have made a very good Darth Maul voice....his voice is very, girly sounding. ;)

More information can be stored digitally on a smaller object, which is a primary reason why DVD's can hold more VHS cassettes. As for there is more on a DVD then in a in-theatre release, it's because pansy audiences whine if they have to sit on their rears for too long.
