I currently have a Dell Dimension XPST450 with : Intel motherboard (standard for that model) Intel PIII 450 Mhz 384 MB RAM (3*128 MB RAM Kingston ECC PC133) 16MB RIVA TNT nVidea Maxtor 17 Gigabyte HD Toshiba DVD-Rom Drive Zip 100MB Drive Dell D1226H 19" Monitor 3Com Ethernet 10/100 on Cable connection Audio card (Sorry I forgot it's name and lost the paper it's written on and I can't be arsed to go look but it's pretty nifty since it supports Aureal 3D sound) Altec Lansing Speakers with Subwoofer (Broken, I blew out the woofer. You'd be amazed how cheap it is to build really nice computers yourself instead of buying them pre-manufactured (and how much more performance you'll get out of seemingly identical systems if you build it yourself from quality parts). Take the system I'm building for instance...all in all that will have costed me about 1600 US dollars...now, that system prebuilt would have OEM parts that don't perform as well, and would cost upwards of 2500, probably more than 3000. Just thought I'd point that out as a suggestion, building a computer is VERY easy, and it'd be very cheap for you to upgrade yours. RAID 0: 2x 60GB IBM 7200RPM HDD 52x CD (or maybe CDRW) Some keyboard Some mouse (MS Explorer) Terratec DMX whatever, some 96/24 soundcard I dunno how much it'll cost, looking at $2700-3000 (this is AUD, not USD!!! probably $1400 US) - though i won't be getting it done for a little while, gotta wait for Radeon to come out and fall something in price... Pentium 4 1.9 ghz 256 MB RDRAM SoundBlaster Live (Boston Acoustics Sourround System) Graphics ... GForce 3 (Titanium something or other??) w/64mb ram 19" Acer Monitor. Input ... Microsoft Optical TrackBall Explorer (The Big Red Ball). Microsoft FF2 Pro. Nostromo n50 Speedpad. Mood Enhancement ... (2) Oozy Brand Glitter Lamps. (2) LAVA Brand Motion Lamp. Play Q3/Q3TA at 1024X768 with everything maxed out. This is a good multi-role box that can go from work to play without complaining about it. I should put in more memory though ...
