WIP: Spawn model

Sniper Wolf

Recommended Posts

Hello again everyone. I have been working like crazy converting the Q3 spawn model from Alcor into a JKO model (I've gotten rights for this model from him for use in JKO). Things I've added are a revised new torso, revised head, new cape, and I've imported it onto the root.xsi skeleton of the stormtrooper. I've textured it and scaled it to the right size and then segmented it. As of this moment I am capping and attaching the JK2 hands. After this I will scale the textures to the right size. Unfortunately I will be leaving Thursday and won't be back until Sunday so I will miss Alcor and have to wait for his return. This will be a short delay. The model is roughly 2500 polygons at the moment. I will be making 3 LODs and adding custom sounds, bot support and CTF skins. After that I will start work on Spawn without a cape Here's the picture I have for now (note that things will be modified):

EDIT: The URL to my site for the Spawn model is http://modelling.iwarp.com/

Remember! I am the not the creator, just the optimizer and converter!

Although im not too fond of the idea of having spawn with a lightsaber thats pretty nice but i think you should make the waist a little less wide and add the belt. Also it looks like he has a mouth in that pic but his mask is on so that wouldnt be there. Just my two cents but other then that it looks great. I myself dont think that would fit in with jedi outcast but i just wont download it

He's also missing the skulls on each side of the collar bone area. Another thing about the face is the whiteish grey areas need to be brought forward from the jaw line areas. You may also want to extend the cape so that it drapes onto the floor. And the crotch area is a little too wide.

It says I've exceeded bandwidth so if you've already looked at the pictures, don't go back a few times a day so others can see them. Thanks.

I'm no expert at modeling but how do you plan on doing the cape? I've seen some people do a good job and others not so good. For example, SithLord-II's Vader cape is great but the Vampire Hunter D model's ain't so hot...

The top part of the cape, around the head area, needs to be brought in closer to the lower neck, and again the skulls and chains need to be added.

There's something strange about the cape colouring. It sort of looks like red water instead of taddered fabric. Will you be doing some re-painting as well?

I must say the head is a vast improvment compaired to what you started with! Keep up the good work!!

Excellent idea, Morphius. I will make the cape tattered. I am also working on creating the skulls for the shoulders but I will not be doing the chains because that would make he polycount go way up. I will be adding the chains for the uncaped version tho. The uncaped will also have the spikes on the shoulders and the bullet straps across the torso. Thanks again

for the chains, you could just do a transparent skin.

How do I do a transparent skin? I'm not familiar with the new rules for the Ghoul2 engine and how skins comply with it. I remember from JK that #00000 of rgb value was transparent, is that still the same? Also, how do I do shaders? Once again, I'm not familiar with this. I just applied 5 uvwmap sections and skinned it from that. I may refine that later.

edit: I will get my pictures up soon. I will update when they are here.
