ET Warrior
Plo Koon = ? Adi Galia = ? Yoda = ? Mace Windu = ? Yarael Poof = ? KiAdiMundi = ? ObiWan Kenobi = ? QuiGon Jinn = ? Anakin Skywalker = ? Luke Skywalker = ? Han Solo = ? Chewbacca = ? I cannot think of any obvious reasons above characters would be named as they are......seem pretty thoughtful to me...... And those other names have meaning......it's not just that he didn't think. It's subtle messages.
Nebelwerfer_
For your information, Luke skywalkers last name was supposed to be starkiller at first, but that would give away the ending to the movie. (kills the deathstar) one of the producers made him change it for that reason, so if it werent for a smart producer starkiller would have been on my first list
Sith Inquisitor
Actually, I have always considered his names very creative, even if the words themselves are not original. He wants to give unusual names because, well these are unusual characters. The Sith are menacing so they get names like Tyranus, Sidious, Maul, Bane. Greedo was greedy, that's why he got killed. Han Solo was a loner(except for Chewbacca, he had no friends). Leia Organa brought hope and life to the Rebellion and to the New Republic. If you try to think about names for characters too much, they come out sounding totally off the wall, and not believable. Lucas just made a play on words. Writers pick names out of a phone book for their novels. The first name from one page, the last name from another page. Some times they name their characters after friends, like Todd McFarlane, who named his character Al Simmons(Spawn) after one of his best friends, Al Simmons. In the end, the name should give you some insight of the character. Just my opinion.
ET Warrior
I did know that Lukes name was going to be starkiller........but it's still creative. Subtle foreshadowing used by names is extremely clever i think, and takes quite a bit of thought.
Legacy_Of_Sith
Also, if I remember correctly Takin was going to be some sort of preacher in an early draft of starwars.

AgentSmith
I thought Aayla Secura was a cool name. But do you have any idea how hard it is to come up with an original name? Even me for my silly fanfic sometimes go through 5 or 6 different names for a character or can barely find a suitable name that doesn't sound plane, redundant, too foreshadowing or tacky. It's tricky for me too cause a name that sounds cool for me (I still pronounce names mostly as they sound in Dutch.) might sound stupid in English.
