double-bladed blue saber in Geonosis arena?

I think I just spotted a blue double-bladed light saber in the Geonosis fight scene.

When Obi-Wan and Windu are standing back against each other, in the upper-right corner can be seen a Jedi who wields a double-bladed saber  Unfortunately I didnt see the guy after that anymore, but I am almost sure I saw it!

Opinions?

Peace!

I looked at the arena battle. I don't see a double bladed blue saber. The double bladed saber is a Sith weapon. Darth Maul built his using ancient scrolls written by the first Dark Lord of The Sith to wield a double bladed saber, Exar Kun. You will not see a Jedi wielding that weapon in the Lucas canon films. Truth be told, I doubt any Jedi would have the skill to handle it, it takes extremely extensive training to wield that saber.:D

Exar Kun is an EU character who will more likely than not never appear in a Lucas canon film. They were probably running short on lightsabers to give their extras and pulled out one of Darth Maul's from SW1 (Aayla was using the lightsaber built for the Ki-Adi-Mundi character). Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan didn't look all that surprised when Maul ignited both ends of his lightsaber; for all we know in the SW canon the 2x lightsaber can be used by Jedi, it's just so hard to learn and takes so much devition to master it that most Jedi don't go through the hastle.

As for the picture, it looks almost like the top is blue and the bottom is purple... can't be since Mace's is the only purple lightsaber, so it's probably just the image. It could be one Jedi with their lightsaber up and a second Jedi behind him/her/it with his/her/its lightsaber pointing down. I guess I have to go back and watch the movie and try to see if both blades move in tandem ;)

take a LONG look at what you think is a double bladed lightsaber, now notice how the top blade is a different color (blue and what appears to be white) than the bottom blade? and notice how the second "blade" comes right out the bottom w/o leaving enough room for a second set of controls/lightsaber system, the hands look like they're overlapping and right below them is the second blade, which means that there is barely enough rooms for his hands even when they're squished together, now seeing as how's there's barely enough room for his hands do you think there'd be enough room for a second set of internal components to support a second blade? but it does look convincing at first glance good eyes:D

Both of those blades move in perfect tandem, and you could also notice (although barely) that the stance is similar to what Darth Maul used, when wielding the dual-bladed saber. The color difference is propably just a reflection of light; we all have seen how blue blades can look purple and green can look alot like yellow ;)

*cough* Here is another picture, fraction of second later after the first one http://www.kolumbus.fi/tluostar/dbs2.jpg

I wish I already had a DVD, so I could watch the arena scene frame-by-frame with pixel-perfect quality :(

Exar Kun is an EU character? Are you sure about that?

Why is he mentioned in the official history of the Sith?

Positive; he first appeared in Kevin J. Anderson's Jedi Academy Trillogy and was a major player in a couple SW comic books (Dark Lords of the Sith and [/i]The Sith War[/i], both of which are excellent). Exar Kun's spirit, I believe, was supposed to have had a major role in converting Anakin to the Dark Side, so that's almost deffinately something that will be contradicted in Episode III if the trend of EU-ignoring continues.

And you're talking about the history of the Sith on http://www.starwars.com, right? That has a lot of EU stuff mingled in, since the only things that aren't EU are what happen in the movies ;)

I just watched it again and it kinda looks like there is a double bladed light saber in the back round. Especially the part where Anakin is running to mount the chariot that padame is in.

I think its just 2 Jedis close to each other or 1 jedi swinging in a certain fashion that gives that illusion.

After Mace and Obi-Wan are back to back you see alot of crazy things in the backround.

When The droid that had C3PO's head says "Oh dear im terribly sorry about this" you see a Jedi in the backround fighting with 2 light sabers, one in each hand.

It does look like a double blade, however i have noticed for certain that there are at least 3 or more jedi that are carrying two sabers at once. They apparently picked them up off of their dead companions, so it is possible that's just a guy with two sabers, or it could be a double bladed one.......i'm not certain

No Aayla is on the left of the screen in the tribunes at first during the Arena battle. :)

You don't see her near Mace and Obi-Wan until the remaining Jedi are driven into a circle and fighting stops for a moment. She is lead to the circle from the bottom right and takes position behind Mace and Obi-Wan towards the left side of the screen.

(Impressive isn't it? She survived the Arena battle fighting the hords of droids outside of the 'protective' Jedi circle. ;) )

But it's true at first glance it looks like a double bladed lightsaber, but best to judge that when the DVD with sharp image quality is released. :p

I personally don't have a problem with you filming Aayla. My problem is that you don't share the footage with me! Bastard! (j/k) :D

If it was already in there....then why would they edit it out? It was obviously MEANT to be in there if it was filmed, i doubt that somebody snuck in a double bladed saber, and Then managed to sneak into ILM and edit the film so the blades looked real.......

Come to think of it, I remember having read a rumor that Ray Park appears in the Arena scene as one of the Jedi. Maybe the guy in that picture is him, and Lucas has made eastern-egg (or as an tribute to Darth Maul) by letting him swing the double-bladed saber in one scene.

Just an thought :p

Maybe I'll share some of the Arena footage. :D

But I'm never sharing the footage and pics I got from my perch outside her Jedi temple quarters! :p;)
