Sniper Wolf
Hey I was wondering how you get the .tga files that are referenced in many model_default.skin files. They aren't in the directory, yet they work in game. Probably a n00b question, hehe. Sorry. - Wolf
KMan
The game will recognise jpg's as well as tga's as the texture. They used jpg's for all of their textures that did not require an alpha channel to save space on the CD for more important things. Also they could have higher resolution textures and only a small loss in quality from the jpeg compression will be noticeable on higer end cards able to display it. Sniper Wolf
So how do I find the tga files that are referenced for the arms and parts of the torso, etc? I wanna edit them as well. Thanks - Wolf
BradFu
Even if it's referenced as a .tga in the .skin file, it still may be pointing to a .jpg file. If you don't find a .tga file referenced in the .skin file, it means it's actually a .jpg. If that's at all clear.
Sniper Wolf
Ah I see, before I thought the two sides of the torso were actually the sides but they are really the arms. Thanks for clearing that up.
