acewombat
Has any else had luck with the NPC Tutorial that Emon wrote I have tried the stormtrooper example a thousand times and its not working-I have a NewNPC's folder in my gamedata folder inside of it I have the ex_data folder and in it is the with the npcs.cfg file, and the newnpc.npc file that contans the edited stormtrooper changes (which I saved in rich text format I think?) Also I extracted the stormtrooper default_model_skin to models base and renamed it RebornStormtrooper. But it says cannot spawn it. AHHHHH Help! Emon
1. The model FOLDER must be called RebornStormtrooper. 2. Make sure the file name is newnpcs.NPC and not newnpcs.npc.txt or something. Rich Text Format? Um, plain text is what you want. Put *.* in the file box, hit enter, then type in newnpcs.npc and save it... That should work. I was going to include this in my tutorial, but you'll notice the note at the top that says you should have a basic understanding of editing before reading the tutorial. idontlikegeorge
hey so if the folder has to be named the goofy names required, do you have to move the .model file to it as well, or could you have a link to an already existing model? like say you wanna make a few new npc stormies, but you dont want (or need) 3 extra model files around; what would happen then? (if its blatantly in your tutorial then smack me upside the head)
Emon
You still need the model files, but you could point the skins to elsewhere and save space.
acewombat
I did that *.* and then hit enter and named the file NewNPCs and I did it in regular txt format but that .txt is not going away.
Emon
1. Delete the old file. 2. Enter *.*, hit ENTER. Type in newnpcs.npc and hit ENTER.
