SP Mapping with New Models!

Shem

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to get the word in that I have succesfully made it possible to spawn both Darth Vader and Desann at the same time without replacing any of the original models of the game. I worked long and hard, did many tests, and finally found the way to make it work. Example, I wanted the author of the Mainframe to read this because he replaces both Desann (to Vader) and the RebornFencer (to Advanced Reborn). Which when you are not playing the map, you want to remove it based on what changes have been done. I even tried to email the author Steven Brown on his work, but my mail was either blocked, or that isn't his email anymore. I've also emailed other authors tonight (and didn't get returned :) ).

This also goes for anybody who is interested in Single Player Mapping, especially if they want to use different models without replacing anybody. You can email me (JediShemL@aol.com) if you are interested in this. I've seen a lot of SP maps that have charaters replaced by other players, which means you usually take the file out when you want to play the regular levels. This way, you can just leave the file in the base folder. I mean how often would of played a map like Mainframe if regular players are altered, especially if you had to take the file out and put back in just to play it? Wouldn't you play it more if you didn't have to remove and put the file back so often?

Oh, and another thing, if you do email me, please put the subject heading Jedi Outcast, Jedi Knight, or Star Wars. I get so much junk mail that I don't want to delete your email because your subject heading said something like "hi" on it. One other thing I should mentioned is that I made Vader's force powers just as powerful as Desann's and a better dueler. I'm sure a lot of people wonder how I pulled it off who have tried to do this. Because I would test it and think I did it, and realise that the lightsaber is pointing at Vader's crouch and not held in his hand. Then when he fights, the lightsaber is lit through his body, but not hurting him because of the graphic glitch. Well if that has been a problem with anybody else, I have the solution to the problem. Imagine making a map that you have like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker and yourself (as Kyle) for example, and you have to beat the map at the end by beating Desann, Darth Vader, and Darth Maul. I now know how to do this with anybody.

Hello and welcome to LAST WEEK.

There have already been like four threads and a sticky thread for a tutorial for doing the same thing. Nice try reposting someone else's methods as your own and saying you invented it. *Sigh*

<< JediSheml check ur mail for crying out loud!! I've mailed ya like years ago (this afternoon) >>

Did the subject heading say either "Star Wars", "Jedi Outcast", or "Jedi Knight"? I delete around 50 or so emails a day. So if you didn't put a subject heading, or put something like "hi" on it, your email is history. Resend it with one of those subject headings. I did mention that in an earlier post.

See, this is why I usually don't get involved with these types of forums. People start attacking people and insulting others. I honestly figured out how to do this and wanted to help mappers on how to make this stuff. I had no idea that Emon made the tutorial. That's because I never read it. But then he attacked me for trying to steal his credit. He acted like nobody else could of figured it out. I'm glad he was able to help you. That's awesome. I helped someone this afternoon. I helped a guy named Micke make an npc Darth Maul.

Whatever. I never even read that tutorial. I found out about it after I posted this stuff. I'm the type that likes to figure things out on his own, especially since every other tutorial always confuses me. Just because you don't have the capibility to figure these things out on your own, doesn't mean you have to be so jealous and snotty about it. As you can see, I haven't posted much stuff on here and haven't spent much time in the forums. Still have your chopps busted because I figured something out that you can't? That's what I thought.

actually Emon was pretty helpful in figuringout how to spawn custom NPCs. He even wrote that tutorial about it. If you would have maybe looked at that then you would have known about it.

If you would have put the mainframe pk3 in a folder under GameData and loaded it as a mod instead then it shouldn't replace anything in the normal game only when the mod is loaded.

That still doesn't make sense to me. How do you load it as mod instead? I know where the gamedata folder is, but how do you load it from that point just to play it?

As in, create the folder GameData\Mainframe Mod\

Then place the mainframe pk3 into that folder.

THEN in the game, load the config and select Mods

Click Mainframe Mod and then LOAD

Click New Game

It will load the mod directly.

It will probably be in everyone's best interest if future SP mods have installers to avoid this very issue.

Very good point. I posted something about this in General Editing a long time ago and nobody listened to it. Maybe finally some people will get the hint.

You know, I wasn't trying to slam you or anything like that. I was simply mentioning a fact. I'm glad you were able to figure out that stuff and knowledge is power that should be shared and freely available. The more that know it the better.

I would still like to know how *you* did it. And I would like to know how you fixed the problems with the saber in the crotch. :p

anyways, my apologies for any *flaming* i may have sent your way, it was unintended and I shouldn't have done it. Thanks and have a great day.

I'll be using an installer which automatically detects the location of JO on your HDD and will install the mod levels to that location. Also complete with an uninstaller that will remove all traces of the levels ever being installed.

JediShemL,

its nice of you to offer help via email but why make a secret out of it (just the image i got while reading your posting), isn't it more helpful (and less time consuming for you) to post your solution on the forum and to add your emailadress to give people a possibility to get further help.

ok, Emons attitude isn't everyones matter, but he won't eat you, JediShemL. Reading his postings week for week you will know, he has just some rugged character features (no offense here, emon :) )

I figured out how that works. So forget what I said.

Well I don't like tutorials, and what I have done for anybody who is interested, we meet on either MSN messager, or AOL Messager and I take them step by step through the process. It's easier because then questions can be asked when someone is confused and I can answer them. If you want to look at my work, download my mod "Ultimate MOD v3.0" and unzip my work and check out what I did.

Contact me about meeting me sometime and I'll take you step by step on doing this. Or download my "Ultimate MOD v3.0" and look at my work.

Excellent, excellent... exactly what I was planning to do with sp_kaminoplatform (which is on hold, incidentally).

Any particular InstallShield-based product you are using to make the installer? Or is it all hush-hush? :p

For people without access to something like Install-Shield for C++ they can download a free software product called Setup Generator. Or you can spend a little money and grab Setup Factory, which should be all one would need to make an installer/uninstaller combo fast and easy.

Hey, ShemL. I've been trying to get your Ultimate mod from JK2.net for the last 3 days now, but the links seems to be broken. I guess they have server problems, again.

Are there any other sites where i can get your Mod?

Also have you had any success in changing the Player character the same way as the NPC's? I've given it a try, but haven't had any success so far.

I just wanted to let you know that I plan on releasing new characters for my Ultimate MOD v3.0! I already have Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Aurra Sing, Darth Maul, and Mara Jade released. I plan on adding a 3.1 version which will be a patch to the 3.0 version. The 3.1 will have Count Dooku, Yoda, Mace Windu, and Qui-Gon Jinn. The only thing that is holding that up is that I am not completely satisfied with any of the Qui-Gon and Mace models. So whoever is working on that, your work is appriciated.
