El Capitan II

Recommended Posts

Where do I start...I've taught myself some basics with GTK and the provided manual that led to my first well lit, cool looking room (These are newbie standards mind you). The Entity window though, has me baffled. How do I get a button to function? The relationship between given button and desired target seems non-existant. I'd like to learn about the entity window in general though cuz i have big plans. Also, the textures default to a size much too big to use when I paint my brushes, and fitting and scaling these textures for every brush takes forever and isn't even worth it sometimes. I think the default size in the editing/properties window says they default to .5 or .05 or something. Anyone know what they should be to be the correct size in the game? Can I texture two sides of one brush differently? How can I get my cylinders to stay visible and not show all ####ed up in the game? Basically, are there any further tutorials and tools that someone who would ask these kinds of questions could benefit from? The basic tutorial leaves many questions for me. Please help !! Thanx in advance.

as everyone will tell you, NEVER use the CSG subtract. Use the clip brush to cut away everything.... also, just a personal tip for you, build everything like you would with Lego's...just pretend a brush is a block and you're all set!

*Sigh*

CSG subtract is not bad if you use it right. If I've got a mountain side and I wanna cut a cube hole in it, CSG subtract is faster and more efficient, and DOES NOT break anything up into tons of peices. Any brushes that can be merged can be merged with CSG merge. Oh, I suppose that is evil, too, right?

No, it's not... Make a hill with GenSurf or something, then stick a cube into the side, and hit CSG subtract. No fragments, and even more efficient than the clipper. Why is it more efficient? Because it's FASTER and it saves you a ####load of merging time that you'd have to do with the clipper.
