Shields for what?

Shields for aircraft and the Geo Warrior.

Normally you would at the Airbase, but the Geonosians lack that technology.

So I take it this statement I read is wrong:

 

:: GEONOSIAN WARRIOR Winged Geonosians have wings with which they can take to the sky and are built in the Fortress. These can be upgraded to have shields.
