How do you start?

From THIS SATURDAY (and I totally promise!) the Galactic Battles.com website will feature excellent strats on how to start.

 

These have been put together by some experts and some are exclusive to this website.

 

And it's our birthday saturday - 1 year old! LOL

I'm a new player, and was wondering how you all start your games. I'm playing a Landmass game against teh Wookies and the Trade Federation. I'm the Rebel Alliance. I usually start off taking my scout around, but that take a heck of a lot of time, and I can't just click to the end of the map, cause then I can't retreat very fast if I come upon a predator or an enemy civilization. SO, I usually try to do that and get my workers gathering ore, carbon, food, and the green stuff too, forget it's name. I build the building for getting the materials next to the consecutive minerals, and get power to them, but I still am being outpaced by my rivals. I believe I have around 2 workers at each station, except for food, where I have 4-5 workers fishing or hunting. I build a Troop Building whenever I can and pump out a couple Troop Recruiters. Usually I have them patrol around the "entrances" to my fort. I try to get to level 2 as fast as I can. In the mean time, I might build 6 or so troops. as well as the prefab buildings. So, I was doing all this and I got to tech 3, and was starting to build heavy mounted troops when right after I did this, the wookies along with the trade fed. come around with mounted troops and started wooping it up on me, I got tired of watching the destruction and quit the game. I need to start a new game but want to know better strategies. Anyone help?

If you are just starting out:

 

Play on an easier difficulty

Build lots of troops, and then worry about resources. (Note: this is only affective on the easier difficulties.
