D@rth M@ul
Well, I dont see why death wouldn't play a major role in this game. I mean, unless your character dies and is thus unplayable. That wouldn't be too fun. I don't think this topic has been touched by the devs.
virtualoctopus
One thing I'd REALLY like in KOTOR is the fact that characters can die and stay dead. So many RPGs make sure that you can ressurect the dead, nearly all make it so that losing a character other than in the very early game can be a MASSIVE blow to your party. I'd like this to be different in KOTOR, with the fact that someone might die an unstoppable fact. Wouldn't ANH have been much less powerful if Luke had gone back to the falcon and ressurected Obi-Wan using the force? Death should be a vital part of KOTOR's story, possibly if relationships are included a push towards the Dark Side for a character if a lover dies. I think this would be a great feature for the game. Com Raven
well, as soon as he dies, and stasy dead, ppl will just reload the game...
Exar Kun II
If your character dies, then the game is over. You have no choice but to start again.
Com Raven
and you think ppl would want that ?
Exar Kun II
Originally posted by Com Raven and you think ppl would want that ? Who can say at this point?
Darth Gurdash
I would prefer that if my companions died they stayed dead as well as my enemies it's a plague in RPGs of returning villains and hero's.An interesting thing to do if you died would be to replace or regrow limbs/organs using bacta or cybernetic replacements(a good way to replace that arm you lost in the saber dual with another jedi)this adds a needed twist to the whole fight-die-true resurrection thing. P.S.D&D t0ta33y R0xx0rs lol.
Com Raven
well, Bio never did what you suggest... plus, it's abit different if I have to do 20 mins of Rogue Spear mission, or 30 hours of Knights again...
Darth Gurdash
Thats too bad it would have been really cool.now we'll probably get some kind of force resurrection BS. CRAP.They should have hired me as a consultant. P.S.why would you relate an RPG to tacticle shooter anyway?
Exar Kun II
Let's not jump to conclusions. What about in game save options. Save points where you can start over if your character dies. That would make sense.
Com Raven
well, that's the same then.... why not let ppl save when they want ?
jingato
I don't get it, what are people trying to say? Do you want your character to die the first day and then not be able to play the game anymore? That sounds kinda dumb
Com Raven
in a nutshell, yes...
Old_Ben
Personally If I'm going to buy this game I don't want play for a few minutes die and then never be able to play again, or spend many hours playing and then have to start over. I think what D@rth M@ul and virtualoctopus were trying to say, though was that if one of your companions died they should not be able to be ressurected and then come back to help you. You should have to go find someone else to help you out. Which is actually a good idea, but not being able to save isn't.
Com Raven
yeah, but you can't resuurect them, ppl just reload
virtualoctopus
Originally posted by Com Raven yeah, but you can't resuurect them, ppl just reload This is what I'm getting at : You've just been through a big boss fight. One of your companions is dead. Your last save is before the boss, at the last place you could save it. You don't want to go back and do the boss again, as it took you many attempts. Your companion is dead. You have the choice to go back and do it all again, or continue without him. When people die in Star Wars, they stay dead. (or come back as blue ghosts). I think many people would choose to continue.
Com Raven
Now I see your point, sorry... yeah, some would continue... I would do it again....
Ewok Hunter
I hope they put some way to revive dead party members. if those people want 'realistic deaths' then they can just not revive them.
Old_Ben
Mabey they'll mke the game with many opportunities to pick up new party members so you wont care so much losing one companion.
