Why? I should tell him to make a whole bunch of animations in 3DSM that he'll never be able to get into the game at the moment? He would waste his time, I'm trying to save him from wasting it. No, I never said Yoda wouldn't work, I merely asked how you could scale stuff for MP.

 

It's definatly possible to make new animations, but until you can get your hands on the old anims made by Raven in the humanoid.gla either with a GLA importer or the animations in XSI form (someone said they were releasing that) you won't be able to make new anims without replacing all the other ones. And if you replace all the other ones you can't walk, attack, etc.

 

I don't really see how shaders would result in flapping wings... You could use some oriented auto sprites and move those around, but those would be flat and stuff, at the moment you can't actually make 3D wings and animate them and such.

I'm not experienced with shaders so I don't know too much about their framerates and that kind of thing, but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to model each of the wings in 6 or so different positions and skin them all, then apply a different shader to each one so that each position flashes on and off in the correct sequence to give the impression of fast wing movements.

I'd love to see an EpI Anakin!

If you want to do it, get working on it and keep going at it. It's a great feeling to create something and contribute it to a community like this.

If you still have any problems just address them hear and state the problems clearly. There are plenty of talented individuals that should be able to push you in the right direction.

That's not entirely true. If we never get a GLA importer or some raw animation data it's not going to happen. Of course, it's POSSIBLE for someone to remake all of JO's 17,000 frames of animation, which would probably take several years to recreate and wouldn't be as good. Of course, it's POSSIBLE. :rolleyes:

Well, I plan on makeing more frames of animation than that, and ya it may take a year or so. Well not me actually, but my team of very experienced animators. I mean when you say 17,000 frames when talking about 3d animation, its not quite the same as 17,00 frames of 2d animation. Yes it is good amount of animations, but hey, thats what you do when your going to make a Total Conversion Mod. And thats exactly what I plan on doing. But at the same time, I'll admit, I'm real worried right now about wether or not its going to be a nightmare or even next to impossible to do custom animations as you say. But I'm trying to be opptimistic in thinking that if infact the power wasn't already given to us and we just havn't figured it out yet, and that if thats the case, I'm hopeing that Raven or whoever its up to realeases what we need to the community. And if the case is that I find it is next to impossible to do the animations then that totaly blows and I will have no choice but to look elswhere for an engine that is there and ready to go.(UNREAL 2 Technology maybe :D) But to tell the truth, I really just hope that we get whatever it is we need for JK2 cause I really do have a game that is just perfect for this engine. I'm not going to say what it is right now(definatly not until I know if we will have what we need to do it) but I'm trying to be hopefull. But the hard truth is that if they dont give us the power to really do total conversions which to me means you have to have the ability to do custom animations among other tweaking, then this Idea of mine is all in vain:( And I would imagine that the communitys fate lies in that aswell because plugging in new models can only take us so far. Lets all hope!

Yeah! Who else ois waiting for UT2003? ;)

The kid Anakin would be good if he had some suitable pain sounds...I never really liked kid Anakin (matter of fact, I like Jar Jar better than kid Anakin), but if you can get a good model done...*swish* and Anakin go bye bye. :)
