ET Warrior
Now i'm not talking about rumored deleted scenes, only the ones that have made it onto the DVD (and will eventually make in on the AOTC one) or things that were shown in trailers but were cut out. I personally think that they are canon, because apparently George Lucas thought that they should be there, but were cut simply to make the movie the right length and keep the flow how he wanted it. Just wondered your opinions.
Darth Assan
I think they are, and i doubt anyone will disagree (especially seeing as some people consider the EU as canon, those crazy, crazy people )
MotionMan
I do think they are. Especially any scenes added to the DVD.
Kryllith
Yes, unless Lucas says in the commentary intro to the deleted scene that it was taken out because it didn't fit the story (as opposed to simply eating time or possibly being distracting, like the waterfall scene in TPM). Kryllith
Canon is the standard by which other measures are set. In the case of Star Wars, canon is the stories presented by George Lucas (ie, the movies). Additionally, anything George Lucas says about Star Wars's characters, weapons, aliens, crafts, planets, laws of physics, storylines, etc., not depicted in the movie are also considered canon; it's George story afterall so he sets the canon. Anything not written, or otherwise stated, by Lucas (which includes all the books, fanfiction/fanmovies, etc) are not considered canon. Hence, everything in the Expanded Universe is not canon. Basically what is all means is that the canon is inarguable when it comes to the purest Star Wars storyline/history. The canon superseeds all other sources, which means that things written in EU can be negated by Lucas within the movies (other writers have to conform to what he writes, but he doesn't have to do the same for them). Master Bodle
If a deleted scene is included in the the DVD i reckon it is canon yeah.
Ratmjedi
I agree with what you guys say. It's not like GL is going to make a deleted scene with Qui-Gon Jinn still alive or something like that. Unless you guys can think of a deleted scene that contradicted what was in the fim then it is canon.
