Jubatus
Originally posted by Absurd That's exactly what occurs in most philosophical discussions - they end up in semantical and tautological arguments. Indeed. All, and I do mean all serious postings I have made on the internet in my online career have evolved into such. Although this fact could suggest I lack skill in formulating myself I'm fairly convinced the problem lies not there. I could propose people just deliver their philosophical tidbits and refrain from commenting on those of others, but that would defeat the purpose of this thread - debate. I will however implore people to please read my (or anyones) posts again if they feel the need for clarification instead of immediately jumping to responds born from misinterpretation/misunderstanding. We're all different and these misinterpretations/misunderstadings come from our different understandings of terms. Take the term hypocracy for example; ask 20 different people and I'll wager you won't get 2 understandings exactly the same. In addition, debate in writing allows for a much wider range of misinterpreting as body language, expressions of the face, tone of voice and a sea of subtle signals automatically interpreted in the subconscious make up a surprising amount of communicative value. Personally, english is my 2nd language so I'm no master of it, and that may account for some of the misunderstandings (there, I just contradicted myself according to the beginning and the end of this post). Darth Talliusc
i am somewhat of a philosopher. not too good at it, mostly i like to throw off other peoples philosophies. some people use ancient riddles with no answers to clear their mind, become more focused and be able to think philosophically without background thinking taking up space. the sound of one hand clapping is quite simple, just do it yourself. you will hear it. tree falling in forest make a sound? Hell yes it does, do visual effects still happen around blind ppl! (if you argue with me thats ok). my favourite riddle to debunk is the egg vs chicken story: what did come first? the egg i tell you! you see chickens are a pretty evolved life form, they are mamallian for one, which means they came about AFTER the reptillians called earth their home. as the reptiles Layed eggs i can confidently state that the egg predated the chicken by a good while. just a quote i love using: walk into the light and you are blinded, walk away from the light and your path is illuminated..... damn thats good.... think ill add to sig. Lunatic Jedi
Chickens aren't mammalian! They're birds! Birds are not mammals. Mammals must have hair, and birds only have feathers.
Jubatus
Assuming that nature didn't do any radical mutation on the species that would eventually bring about the chicken species I'm gonna have to say the egg came first. Simple reason; the first creature to be qualified as a chicken would've had to be an egg, but that egg didn't necessarily had to have been laid by a creature qualifying as a chicken. The parents' child was to them a mutation, a chicken. The very first chicken....which started out as an egg. No reason that chicken couldn't mate with the likes of its parents (like donkeys and horses begetting mules), have some if not all chicken offspring and thus start the chainreaction of chicken procreation. The aforementioned radical mutation could've been a creature that didn't lay eggs but gave birth like a mammal (growing the fetus in the womb). It then gave birth to the first chicken, that then proceeded to lay eggs....very freaky, very improbable. How you qualify a chicken?...I have no idea, but scientists do I guess.
