$P4RK Posted September 3, 2002 Author Posted September 3, 2002 I have a console now, but what about the tweaks for my Ping..it's fly high. Anyone?!
Sam Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 your ping is your conection rate do you use 56k
$P4RK Posted September 3, 2002 Author Posted September 3, 2002 Yes, 56K I normally connect as: 45333 BPS Whats wrong..!
Sam Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 hhhmmm... 56k is not to good for online play maybe for duel servers. Try to get cable or dsl
thehomicidalegg Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 56k is playable but theres no tweeks 4 ping try connect 2 servers close 2 u. u can still get sub 200 ping with 56k
Sutek Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 When browsing for games, I always sort them by ping and then pick servers with the lowest pings. You might also check to make sure nothing else is using your connection in the background before playing. Spyware (a nuisance par excellence) is one common cause, as are firewalls (oddly enough) and some other programs (MSN messenger and ICQ for instance). To check and remove the spyware (if any) try using the Ad-Aware program from http://www.lavasoft.nu . It's freeware and effective. Close everything you have open bar the ABSOLUTE essentials. f you have MSN messenger installed, check the Task Manager (ctrl-alt-delete) for a program named "loadqm" or "loadqm.exe". This program consumes vast resources and does...nothing. If you know how, remove it from your startup completely (requires editing your registry. If you like I can post the method). Doing those simple tasks should improve performance in general, not just on the net (if any of them are relevant).
$P4RK Posted September 8, 2002 Author Posted September 8, 2002 I'm ok now. I used The All-Seeing Eye and I get loads of good/fast servers!
